I will summarize. If you don't plan on using grey or blackhat SEO techniques there really is not much reason not use the built in google tools.

If a big part of your strategy revolves around trying to be deceptive towards google and manipulating the search results for personal gain, then I suggest you give google as little access to information about your sites as possible.

It makes no difference what color hats you are wearing.

You are not giving Google any additional information about your website they don't already have. If you disagree, please share what information you think they are gaining by installing GWT or GA that they didn't have before.

The only thing I would caution about them is I wouldn't use the same account for multiple sites. The reason being if you are doing something they do not like, they might decide to punish all the sites linked by the same account. Shoot first, ask questions later. Even that is unlikely, but it could happen.

Most of my sites are blocked from google even indexing them. I get my traffic from a multitude of other avenues for most sites I have owned. I don't use adwords or adsense.

They have very little information on my sites unless I choose to give it to them. Even if you don't block google indexing, if you are not using some other google service on your site, they are not able to actually get much real information about your traffic sources, bounce rates, .....

That's fine, but for anyone depending on search traffic, that doesn't work. Plus there is no point in blocking Google if you are not relying on Google for anything.

Again, if you are not relying on search traffic, then any information they gain really makes no difference.

Like I said, for anyone else though, if you are allowing Google to spider your site, you are not giving Google any information they do not have about your site already by using GA or GWT.

The main concern people have is getting slapped for their linkbuilding. Whether you use GA and GWT or not, they know where your links are coming from.
