Your screen name says "opportunist". Anyways...

I would suggest focusing on just 1 or 2 bigger projects to start with. Treat this like a business, not just a money making opportunity.

Tons of people got hit bad by Penguin. Some just won't admit it publicly.

Link exchanges aren't the way you want to go .. forum links are low quality.

Penguin is more about 'webspam' but more importantly over optimized anchor text.

Go to ahrefs.com and look up your site and see what the anchor text ratio is like .. the top 2 really need to be your sites naked url and/or your brand name otherwise you're going to have problems.

Next step if you think this is the problem .. dilute your anchor text or ask webmasters to remove/edit the links that lead back to ur site.

Many thanks! Abslolutely! I used almost 120 backlinks with the same anchor text. Anyway, what do you mean by dilute anchor text? ALso, what is it about naked URL?

I guess, you had missed out major link building method which still works after penguin. Yes, it is "Blogging" using web 2.0 sites, you can find list of web 2.0 sites on this forum and use those to create blogs and get backlink to your site. It is better to write good articles with more than 500 words and post on web 2.0 blogs as well as publish articles on press releases sites and/or article directories - all these will increase more contextual backlinks to your site which Google likes more. In between make sure you use various anchor text to get links, but not only few....Reason is, Google penguin washed out the sites which were doing "Over anchor text optimisation"....

Naked url, variation ..it doesn't matter. You are going to be hit and will probably lose everything again when Google decides to clamp down on spam further.

Focus on what you know and do it well.
Stop "link building" and start "brand building".
    Create content that attracts links.
Move past the low-quality tactics, like that signature you've got. It ain't helping. And with almost 300 posts, I'd say it's hurting.

DO you mean that forum signatures should be removed?
