PR from 0 to 4 (in 2 weeks) to 0 again (in 1 day)???

I'm building a blog where I personally write about topics in my professional field. I just started it in early June, and the first article was online 2-3 weeks ago. So far there are 6 articles with about 5000 words. Last night I noticed -via the SEOBOOK toolbar- that I had PR of 4, same as the 5-year-old top blog in the same field (!!!). I thought it was because I had recently written a 1000+ word article that out linked to several .gov sites, and my other articles also out linked to .edu, .org, etc sites. Well, I was ecstatic, but not so much when today I checked again just to see PR back to 0.

What happened??

Could it be the directly referred content (too many citations)?

Thank you.

You must have made a mistake. Pagerank is LARGELY determined by the backlinking profile, and you do not mention any incoming links so I can only assume you made a mistake.

Either that or some REALLY high PR sites linked to your page, but now doesn't anymore - which shouldn't happen so fast anyway.

I'm sure I didn't. At least I cuadruple-checked, it always showed the same PR 4 msg. I've used the SEOBOOK bar for over 2 years with several other sites. Probably the bar malfunctioned, etc. It's interesting to note, also measured with that bar, another site in the same field had PR 4 also yesterday at the same time, but now it's back to 3 (???).

I'm not sure what to say, there is no logical explanation for a PR going from 0-4-0 within that short a time span. PR is mostly built by getting high pr backlinks.

The PR you see in the toolbars and checkers are not updated very frequently so it is possible that it coincided with an update, but that still does not explain the move in the other direction.

either way, you cant expect to get a PR4 in just a few weeks :-)

I just remembered I contacted a country's ministry to find out about some stuff, and of course signed with my site's address. Possibly they checked it up from their own servers, etc, which caused the momentary raise in PR?

    Cheers

Sounds really unlikely. The only way to get PR changes is if you redirect your website to a higher PR website. Google will display the PR of the domain you redirect to.

There was no PR update in June. I am wondering whether your domain had been used by someone before?

Unlikely. The name bears the main keyword plus a personal "extra". Thanks for your comment
