People offering free guest post & SEO

Folks,
I got approached by a company offering free guest posts on any subject, in exchange of course of a backlink to one of their partner sites.

That's appealing yeah, but with all the Google ranking changes I would like to avoid being part of a "blog network" of someone else.

What do you think?
Is there a risk in accepting such a thing?

Thanks!

      That's not entirely true.

OP you need to do your own research & decide If the site you give a backlink to is a junk site or a decent site that you would link out to even without them asking for a backlink.

Don't link out of your site to crappy sites.

If the external site is legit & in the same niche, give them a link in exchange for 100% unique content.

Again, do the research & make sure the content is unique, not some copy/paste stolen content.

The content is probably crap. Take a sample and reject it if its rubbish or if the links are to bad sites.

Its a recommended link building technic and there is no problem with guest posting. But don't allow non related and low quality posts with more than 3 backlinks.

Nothing wrong with that, people should stop being so over-cautious.

Why not check out the blog or network to get a general fee for the writing and content before you decide. It could be a genuine link exchange company.

Accepting guest post is not bad as long as they are going to post quality, unique articles and included link is not a spam.

as long as the content has quality and not just some random gibberish that ultimately goes nowhere.

as long as you will be linking to a related website nad not some off-topic site

as long as you clearly tag the post as " guest post"

    this would all be fine.

    • Guest posting is a popular practice. Just make sure you let the other website owner know about your requirements. Ask them to submit a unique post that is relevant to the content of your site and provides value to your readers.

I don't know why people make such an issue out of it. Linking out to a poor/crappy site won't affect your own rankings in any way so what's the problem really? Just make sure you get a link back from a 3rd/other website. It makes no sense to link out to a site just for a piece of content.

Lol, so we can expect some unbiased results, right?

  • You should check out the site which wants to link back to your site. If the site has good quality content & high PR then its fine. It will not create any problem if you link back to high quality sites.

    Thanks guys,
my worry was about something slightly different, actually.

This company is giving away free unique content with the only purpose of generating backlinks for their customers websites.
So the SE will see, most likely in a very short time, the number of backlinks over those websites grow in an unnatural way.

This is similar to what the fake blog networks de-indexed few months ago were doing, right?

I'm wondering if this can expose me to be penalized in the future.
Or maybe like nik0 I should load my website of porn links

Accepting guest posts should be fine. I would however ask to see some samples of their work to make sure they aren't trying to get you to publish rubbish and so they don't waste your time.

      Yes.
Was this question just to post something or is there a reason behind?

We might offer guest posting pretty soon. Two of our clients have offered us to take care of all their guest posting needs. Very interesting to learn.

I think it might affect my own SEO, if I start publishing guest posts with outbound links to unrelated pages.

      Any SEO real expert around?

Interesting, maybe lowering the price would make them actually buying the space to serve their customer....
