Case Study - Please Resurrect My Website

Hi Folks
I have an old blog that I haven't done much with for probably a year now, mainly because it ranked really well when I first set it up, even top of SERPs for a month or so then quickly died. I think it might have also been hit by Panda and then given the cold shoulder by Penguin.
I made a few dollars through the affiliate product to begin with.
I've gotta say, it's not a piece of work I'm proud of. The articles on it are original, the design sucks.
I really set this up when I first began tinkering with IM.
So I be really grateful for some help in resurrecting and breathing some life back into it and getting it hopefully back to page 1.
Any suggestions would be great and I'm sure will help others.
So how would you go about doing it?
