Stopping the redirection

I found a couple of domain names with PR3. Upon checking their domain in Google using "info:domainname.info", I see that the results goes to another domain name.
Apparently it's a 301 redirect.
While I'm not very familiar with 301, I supposed that the 301 redirect is done in CPanel of the .info domain. So, is it possible to buy the domain name and change all the details, thus "saving" the Pagerank of the domain name?
Or is it a "gone case" if the domain name is redirected?
