Seems Article syndication is just as bad as duplication

So, I've been trying, as an experiment, to see just how much syndicated blogs are frowned on these days, and it seems it's quite a bit.
At first, my traffic and indexed pages began to explode, and I begran ranking for tons of keywords. However, after about two days, I noticed that google began to deindex pages, and my impressions began to fall off.
So to help put my curiosity to rest, I looked under some FAQ's in webmaster tools, and I was able to find that:
" In the rare cases in which Google perceives that duplicate content may be shown with intent to manipulate our rankings and deceive our users, we'll also make appropriate adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved. As a result, the ranking of the site may suffer, or the site might be removed entirely from the Google index, in which case it will no longer appear in search results."
Which was the final nail in the coffin for me. I think I will put my autoblog/syndicated blog experiment to rest. It just goes to show: Content is king!
