I want to build backlinks MANUALLY but I'm not sure how to. People keep saying 2.0s are **** and or blog commenting is worthless

Not sure what to believe; the only thing I know is that relevancy + a high PR + low OBL = great links. However, I can never find a niche related to mine with a high PR...

So, I am looking for some backlinking strategies that have worked wonders to people in SERP movement.

Please try to explain it as detailed as possible including sign up links, pointers, what to do, delay times, etc.

Thank you all!

People say many things, but I can tell you for sure that blog commenting is much more than a backlink. If you drop a GOOD comment on a popular blog, you will also bring traffic to your site.

That being said, what people refer to as blog commenting is mass spamming your link to 10k websites... which will rarely bring results nowdays.

Stop listening to what everyone says and as long as you arent doing something unnatural it should in no way hinder your results.

In my opinion, the only thing worth building manually with no software are high PR blogs - and those are not really newbie friendly. Furthermore even with our PR blog network that we're gonna build, I plan to stick it in magic submitter after it's somewhat developed.

Offtopic: LOL you ever thought about starting a career as a comedian

      Ontopic:

      - web2.0's do work if you put some time into it
      - free pressrelease sites are effective, just write a good pressrelease so it gets accepted
      - doc/pdf sharing sites work
      - video sites work
      - local listing sites, essential when you have a legit business and get reviews
      - guest posts can work VERY well, write good content tailored for the site you offer it too
      - reverse engineering backlinks from competitors
      - posting in forumthread that have pagerank (scrapebox is a good help to find those)

The above can all be done for free

      Some paid options:

      - featured listings at web directories
      - paid in context links, contact webmasters and offer them money or you can find sites that organize it
      - paid blog posts at a network like LinkVana, the only one that lasted during all updates
      - paid pressreleases, although not really worth the money if it's only from SEO point of view
      - rented homepage/blogroll links at sites with max 20 outbound links, avoid anything different, pure spam
      - whoops almost forgot the most effective one: BUY HIGH PR DOMAINS

So plenty to do as you see.

You can also make it easy on yourself and buy it all from a reputable seller like me

Generally what I've been doing lately is looking at the Alexa profiles of my competitors and seeing which sites they have backlinked to them and focusing on the popular ones. These are generally backlinks from reddit, yahoo answers, diggit, youtube, facebook, linkedin, ebay, craigslist etc.. these are all very popular trusted, and top ranked sites. If you get backlinks from them then you are on the right path.. People say blog commenting etc is garbage but I think it depends on which sites you are commenting, and it can in fact hurt you. Stick with your niche and get links from trusted sites. I know it's easier said then done, but it takes diligence.

    Good luck.

You can't believe everything you hear. You can get a blog comment on a blog that is highly relevant, so how could those be bad? Of course, if you are just blasting out comments like what I clear off my blog as spam everyday, then they are useless. However, if you take time to read the post, leave a real comment and use only blogs that are very relevant to the site you are ranking to, this can be very powerful.

Web 2.0s are also very good, but you have to build them up. If you build 5 of these that link to your website, you need to backlink them and keep them up-to-date. The reason most say these are no good is the services that provide them with spun content. Treat these the same way you would your site and only post good content. Then, build good backlinks to them and you can actually build some of the web 2.0s out there to gain PR and feed good link juice to your site.

I have also seen good success with the following:

    - submityourarticle.com - I get good links from here mixed with some lower quality ones, but they help
    - social bookmarking - can be very powerful
    - Guest posting on relevant blogs

    Hope this helps!

The best strategies are guest posting (contextual, dofollow links on high authority and trust, not necessarily high PR, sites).

Also, commenting still works but only contextual, dofollow links within a high quality comment, again on a blog with good authority and trust.

How about submitting your website to very relevant niche directories with PR? There are some that are free and some you pay for but most of them have PR2+?

Do this: Set up a google alert for your keywords. Then you'll get an email when someone posts something in some random corner of the internet that is relevant to you. Become part of the discussion and work a link in.

If you have an interesting topic, make some informational or how to videos. I like to make pages on my site to house my informational videos, so I'll link to those pages rather then to youtube. The page has the video, and it has a header that funnels interested visitors and link juice back to my site.

Thanks, I'll do that. I just checked and the news is a gov website that I can't comment on lol.

Other than that, I currently have:

A few directory submissions with PR related to my niche ~5
      High PR Profile links ~30

I want to expand more upon what I have currently like web 2.0s and maybe a few article submissions for diversity but I'm not sure if this is is safe. Any comments on this?

And could someone comment on how to guest post? Do I need to throw a canonical url in there because of duplicate content or does that not apply to external websites?

Hey, that's a pretty nifty way to sneak in some relevant links actually. Of course not every page you go to will have the opportunity to drop a link, less likely a dofollow one, but when you do get a link it will be all the more powerful due to its relevance.
