I have a website reviewing flat screen TVs. I have contacted many authority websites in my niche for guest blogging. Unfortunaletly, none of them seems to be willing to accept this.
Now I'm thinking of high PR tech sites which accept guest blogs. They are not direcly related to TVs but most of them include TV articles and TV reviews.
What do you think?
if I get backlinks from tech sites through guest blogging, does it help or hurt my site in terms of seo?

Ofcourse it'll help you. Related site doesn't mean that the site should be based on your keyword. Your keyword is related to TV and you can post in technology, entertainment blogs.

tech sites are going to be pretty much as relavent as the niche sites. It is not like flatscreen TV's contain no technology. You will find many more sites by widening your criteria a bit and therefore increase your chances of being accepted to a few.

As others mentioned of course it will help, nevertheless it would be better if you think a topic that is relevant to T.V and at the same time relevant to the blog you pitch your article...

Considering, as you said, most tech sites typically contain at least a section or two on TVs, it will definitely help if you can get them to accept a guest blog.

However, if you want to get your blog accepted to high PR sites, make sure you check and double check your grammar and make extra, extra sure to read the guest post guidelines. Every reputable blog that accepts guest posts will have some. Those guidelines are your lifeline to getting a post accepted.

Yeah.. Sure. It will help you in promoting your site. But guest blogs should be related to your category. Of course, TV is one of the category in Technology family. So nothing going to hurt your site of tech links. Guest blogging is one of the better ways to get natural back links which Search Engines like. Keep on trying to find niche related guest blogs, its not difficult to find out. You will get it soon.

      Here's some newsflash, people!

Google's algorithm is actually smart enough to "assosciate" certain sets of keywords, thus allowing it to differentiate between "niches".

Put simply, if Google sees that the keyword "flat screen TVs" is often found on websites which also mention "tech gadgets" (example), it will automatically conclude that they belong to the same niche (which they do).

Therefore, it is logical to assume that getting a contextual link from those type of sites would definitely benefit your rankings in Google.

      Regards,
      Zannix
