After ther penguin update, what's you opinion about the efectiveness of press releases, from a seo point of view?

By the way, are paid press releases worth compared to free press services?

Thx

Press release syndication method still effective, because of this sites Age,Authority and contents. Paid press releases normally syndicated to high authoritative news sites like topix, usnewswire, prwire, etc . getting backlinks+traffic from Authoritative sites always good

Low traffic/low social media visibility junk press release sites that would publish low quality PR materials have been weeded out.

However, high quality PR sites are still great places to submit to. Why? Because they are credible and some of the high quality corporate sites they have helped in the past link back to them.

After Penguin, the saying "Fewer but Better" is definitely very very important to keep in mind. Don't think quantity. Instead, focus on quality and credibility.

I've read in another thread, an opinion which I think it's very interesting, a succseful pr service should be adressed to real journalist, otherwise it's just a mass article distribution service, which after penguin it's worthless

The credible ones are PAID. PRWeb is good. Good chance of syndication there. The free PR distribution sites are probably flagged right now and it probably won't be a good idea to be caught dead using those. Your call. Google has been talking about QUALITY for all these years. Now, they are walking their talk...

Couldn't agree more with you, as with anything you get what you pay for and G is making it harder for the small timers to get involved. They have a lot more stuff up there sleeve still.

            Interesting answers. Thx

Let's say I want to publish 2 press releases. First one, it's about a service focused in spanish and multilingual seo. Second one, it's about a new saas platform to cretar you own online promotions, therefore targetted to clients with a potential interest in online marketing and social media.

Seo considerations apart, and with the strict purpose to gain new clients and/or improve my branding

            1. Which paid press release service would you recommend? (any package in particular?)
2 - Do you think the subjects of the press releases are interest enough to get press coverage?

P.D: Indulge my English, obviously it's not my native language

Press release is a good option to promote your site, but use only premium press releases service, because free press release and articles directories have no difference, both are spammers heavens, and they give low quality backlinks. On the other hand premium press release can give your site more exposure and will help you to get some more loyal readers....

    Press Releases still work.

Most importantly you have to focus on link variety rather than what works and what's not working.

Everything is still working if done using common sense.

    • A well written press release can drive qualified traffic to your site and increase brand awareness. It can also help you with your SEO efforts and generate relevant backlinks. Press release submission still works; you just need to focus on quality and optimize your release for search engines properly.

Press releases even got more important after all the updates, sending out good press releases can give you back links that are hard/impossible to get otherwise. If you press release get picked up by the media it is not uncommon that you get back links from big newspapers and other highly trusted websites.

Besides that it is good for SEO, a good press release can give you good traffic and it also will builds up your online reputation.

Press releases is the way to go imo

    Here is a PR tip...

Do a PRWeb release. Put your main keyword(s) first in the title of the PR. Wait a few days and search G to find where it go picked up. Find the site with the highest authority that picked it up. Get fiverr SB's and TB's to the URL on that site using that exact keyword(s) for anchor text. Repeat 5 times for other authority sites that picked it up. Use same anchor text or vary it a little. You will dominate page 1 Google.

I have used both Paid and Free PR Services. The paid one was very effective at getting on page one of Google in the tough Forex Niche. The free one did not do much in ranking or traffic.

Skip the free PR services. You get very poor syndication and little to no traffic. I have had very good luck with PRWeb. I received a large amount of traffic from a PRWeb PR that was picked up by Yahoo News and continued to receive traffic from them even a month after my PR was published. I didn't see any SEO effects from the PRs I submitted. Even those with thousands of syndicated results with hyperlinks intact- YMMV.

    *Speculation*
I would be very careful about using anchor texts in press releases these days. If you don't have a diverse and large anchor text profile, it may be possible to get penalized by penguin from anchor over optimization from a successful PR. Not pretty or convenient, but think about using raw URLs (or your brand name)....

Press releases are still worth the effort as per SEO point of view. I have read many reviews that using paid and popular press releases will give you a good advantage if you are a good writer especially when it comes to news.

To give you a good example, I've talked to a guy who got high PR yahoo links using paid PRweb press release service. He said if you are a good writer (news in particular), you have a good chance of getting good links from news websites because they will reproduce your news article with a link back to your site.

So all in all, it still depends on how good you are when it comes to writing. But generally, yes press releases are still good even if Penguin rolled out. It will just vary on your writing skills.

    Hi Everyone.

It is really good to hear that Press Release still holds the value provided done with high authority syndication sites.

PRWeb is been referred to here. Can anyone tell me how about SBWire? I have heard they have good affordable paid option but I am not sure about their credentials, I eve heard that they list in Google News.

Can anyone suggest me how best is to use SBWire which is paid too.
