Does use of keyword in content on homepage really matters? Or only using it in header and meta tags matter? Because we see that some of the sites don't have too much content on homepage and there are almost no keywords on homepage but still they top the rankings.

    Yes YOU need to include the keyword in your content. There are a ton of other factors at play. These other websites you speak of most likely have gain the trust of the search engines and are considered an authority for that keyword. Even though the keyword isn't mentioned in text.

    Using keyword in a content matters a lot. Header tags and meta tags keywords are the major factors but in content, adding a keyword is no less.
