I use google analytics every day its shows the almost accurate stats. It can track multiple sites measure and monitor social networking activity. I think its easy and reliable

Beside this Omniture and Web trends also the best analytic tools/softwares.

GA is authentic and does offer accurate data for free.
However, Google Analytics does not actually measure the amount of time someone stays on your site. As some may know, the amount of people who visit your site doesn't even matter if they don't care much about content and just browse through it. But for just plainly tracking your site's traffic, GA may be the best option since its also for free.

There are other much better options than GA; however, with more performance comes more expense so utilities like Woopra (this one measures time spent on your site) will require some financial outlay. There are many others actually and the internet will be more that happy to give you what you're looking for.

Why give Google free details about traffic details and the inner workings of your website?

    Try something like Piwik instead.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Don't even both with Piwik if you have a site with over 10k visits per day. It's great utility but it starts choking with large sites, or many smaller sites.

Google has said many times before that they don't use Analytics data for rankings. The data they do use is used in aggregate, and you can disable that in your account.

IMO, The only valid reason to avoid using GA is if you don't want to associate multiple websites with the same owner since the UA code gives it away.

Also consider that GA requires javascript be enabled of course among other things - so it may miss a few visitors.

I use two analytics tools, Google analytics and stat counter. I am using Free accounts.

I am using it since 6 months, and have observed variation in the number of visits and page loads, between both tools. I have seen stat-counter showing more number than GA.

But, that does not matter much to me, as i am happy with what other details they are offering.

About how authentic their data are, i guess their data are quite precise.
