I am using SEO Powersuite. Is it very important to extend search algo updates?

I need some advice on this.
I have bought it many months ago.
Now, they told me that I have to extend my search algo updates.
I can still check my ranking, links and other stuff but I wonder how accurate they are
now that it says my search algo has expired..
Do I really have to extend it?
I have not really maximized its use so I do not want to spend more for now.
I am definitely not an expert so I need someone to shed light on this. Any advice?
