What do you think about my SEO strategy?

Hi guys,
I used to post some articles on article sites with little improvement in visitor numbers but then I got a job to write a column on a high page rank website and I get from them 2 to 4 links each month - each link being on a site with a page rank 3 or 4 - sometimes even 5 after some time.

Then my articles often get picked up by other sites that publish it and I receive links from them as well - so there is some diversity in my link building strategy.

I also regularly post on social networking sites getting up to 10 links from there each months

My own website got a page rank 3 after a few months and visitor numbers tripled and grew steadily months after months. Sales grew steadily as well.

So thought I had it all sassed out...

But since the beginning of July my visitor number have declined by roughly a third. I am quite worried.

Is this the summer slump?
Is google unhappy with my strategy?

Please only answer if you have a real idea - no wild guesses, please.

    There was no Google update on July. Last update was June 25. So, if you lost visitors in the July, there might have another reason. What about your position in search result? is that declined? Article writing is the safest way to get link and if your links are from good PR site, I found no reason for being hit by Google. As far I know regarding SEO, your technique is ok.

    Did you notice ranking drops? Its hard to say without more information. It could be that this time of year is not a highly trafficked time for your keyword. If your rankings dropped though thats a whole other story.

      Difficult to conclude anything with so little information. BUT, the answer surely lies in your analytics ( assuming you've Google Analytics installed )

      From your analytics, you can see which traffic sources / keywords / landing pages have been hit.

        actually, all keywords are a bit down across the board.
        I checked my main keywords and they are still pretty much in the SERPs where they were before.
        If feels as if not as many people are on the internet.

        I read somewhere here on the forum that there is something like a summer slump.

        I am dealing with life-coaching and maybe people are feeling happier in summer when the sun is shining :confused:

    your strategy is simply good. but you should try some other methods of link building too. it will make it more diversified.
    and I think you should check the rank. if its dropped then check your high PR back links. are they still active or some of them are dead. it happens.

      hi guys - thanks for the replies and I am happy I got the thumbs up for my seo strategy.

      I checked all the ranks - got the old 'ronk checker' out on fire fox and my main keywords have maintained their ranking. Lots of less important keywords lost ranking. But I know I never got much traffic through them anyway.

      I also checked all the links and they have maintained their page ranks. One or two have gone a point.

      What is your experience with summer? Do you get less visitors?
