How can I find my "true" rankings?

I have been trying to check my true rankings for my keywords, when I google them in my browser in Firefox they come up higher then in my browser in Chrome.

I then put my keywords into the keywords rank checker at SEOcentro.com and they came up even higher, what is a quick ( and preferably) free way to check my true rankings, or is there no such thing as true ranking since Google customizes it's content to the searcher?

I guess I am looking for what an average person might seen when Googling one of my keywords.

You have to make sure you clean out your browser history, cookies and make sure you're not logged in to Google.

      I use: searchenginegenie.com/google-rank-checker.html

It'll check your position to 300 places.

Try the link in my signature. It is a SERP checker that uses private proxies and no personalization, so you will get your 'true' ranking. Let me know if you have any questions.

There is no "True Ranking" because each search gives up a little bit different results. Your rankings are always dancing 1-3 positions up and down.
Only if you are in top 5-10 you can really measure a true ranking.

In a sense there is no "true" ranking because ranking isn't static and how Google chooses to display its results varies on many factors. Even between different browser agents.

Problem with using google is you have to check each keyword, one by one, and if it isn't on the first page, you'll have to page through until you find your domain. Then, if you want to track your progress you'll have to create some kind of spreadsheet, and if you want to graph it well, you get the idea.

So much easier to use the site in our signature.

If you've got many sites that you want to track and maintain from one interface, if I may suggest the tool in my signature. My next release is also incorporating not just organic results, but also localized result tracking as well which is incredibly important.

If you just want to do a quick keyword check you can do it in an incognito window in Google Chrome.

Otherwise use something like RankTracker from SEO Powersuite which is my personal tracker of choice after trying a few different ones.
