My web page shows first page in Google.com but not showing in Google India

After some link building techniques I was able to make my page in first page of Google USA for a particular keyword. The page also shows in first page of all other Google search except Google India for that keyword. Since my keyword is mostly used by Indians majority of the users search the keyword in Google India. Also Google USA automatically redirects to Google India in my country. So I am losing about 95% of search results. I think this is a strange problem and I will be helpful if anybody finds me a good way to escape from this strange problem. The more strangest thing is that the Google India not even showing the result in first 20 pages for that keyword (I have not checked after that page)

On the site's Google Webmaster tools settings, set the location to target as India. You could also try to get backlinks from indian sites, but that is a much more difficult task.

google isnt only 1 search engine, its a seperate machine for each country profile (which is loads!)
if you want to rank locally in india then you will want to get .in .co.in backlinks etc, and links from sites that are indexed and ranking well in India. We have great rankings in UK but when it comes to other countries we dont do much for our own site as we like working with local clients that we can meet!
)Having said that, we also supply companies in India, and have clients all over the world, but in terms of natural organic traffic its the UK

Thanks for your reply. But what I feel strange is my page shows in first page in all Google searches like Google Pakistan, Google Philippines, Google USA, Google Srilanka etc. I don't know what's special with Google India which is only the search engine which even not showing my page in top 100 for my keyword. I know that variation will be their but I don't expect such a huge variation

I was having the EXACT SAME problem a few days ago, I was trying to rank in Malaysia with a generic domain and I was ranking on the first page of every other country but I was ranking on page 5 in Malaysia. I set my geotarget location to malasyia in Webmaster tools and I went to page 1 in malaysia and bottom of page 1 or page 2 in almost all the other search engines though. But that's ok since the keyword gets almost all searches from malaysia.

I am afraid of changing my geo-target. Actually I am having a blog and it contains many posts target many countries. So if I change my geo-target I will lose a considerable amount of traffic from other countries

In that case, get a co.in or .in domain and move the content that you want ranked in India to the new .co.in or .in domain. And do a 301 redirect from the page that had the content to the new .co.in or .in domain.

Are you using a .co.in domain or something more generic?

Where is your web hosting account located? India or elsewhere?

It's just that different Google data centers definitely provide different search results. There are many factors involved to this. But this thing shouldn't take really serious.

What geographic region you are targeting? Sometimes, Google knows what geographic location you are intending to target. If Google thinks your website is suitable for specific location, then you will get high ranking in that specific region. Keep your all settings default in Google webmaster tools or try to optimize it for all targeted countries.

I would advice you to make two versions of your website one for India and other for US and then divert the visitors depending upon the ip from which they are surfing the websites. i.e. if any of the user is searching from India then redirect him to the Indian version of your website & if anybody is searching from US redirect him to US version of your site. But for this you need to rank your keywords both for google.co.in and google.com. Hope this helps..

Feel free to ask if you have any further queries..
