Redirecting 4 sites into sub domains of a corporate site

I was assigned to do a SEO project and site revamping of a travel company.Now they are looking for 4sites instead of one and they want to have another one as a corporate site to keep the brand identity.

Weddings
Sports
Web site guy was like make subdomains for each category and permanent redirect the each Travel site above in to subdomain (www.travel.coporate.com)
Wedding into(www.wedding.coportate.com) and so on for sports.
Is it good for SEO.I'm bit confused about this redirection.
