PR 6 No-Follow Link Any Good?

I just placed a link on a PR 6 PAGE (the domain was PR 9) under the impression it was a do-follow. I checked it afterwards and realised it contained the no-follow tag. Does this have any benefit at all for SEO?

    No Follow links will not help for rankings... I don't know why so many SEOs think they do?
    When have you seen a nofollow link pass value? Prove it

    Sure, there have been anomalies in the past (Matt Cutts admits) and some very weak case studies suggesting they pass value... which leads to Chinese SEO whispers.

    Generally, or 99.9999999% of the time nofollow links do not pass SEO value.

    The link itself could be valuable if it has traffic as said above.

    I've no idea why people continue to beleive that no follow links hold ranking value. The no follow tag was created to stop a link form passing value. It doesn't matter what the PR of the linking page is as none of the PR, trust, anchor text or authority is passed through the no followed link.

    I've got many high ranking sites with 100% do follow back link profiles, so you don't need a mix of both do and no follow links ether, unless maybe you're back links start to reach tens of thousands.

    From Google webmaster support:

    "Nofollow" provides a way for webmasters to tell search engines "Don't follow links on this page" or "Don't follow this specific link."

    How does Google handle nofollowed links?

    In general, we don't follow them. This means that Google does not transfer PageRank or anchor text across these links. Essentially, using nofollow causes us to drop the target links from our overall graph of the web. However, the target pages may still appear in our index if other sites link to them without using nofollow, or if the URLs are submitted to Google in a Sitemap. Also, it's important to note that other search engines may handle nofollow in slightly different ways.

    Heck yes it helps. Take every high PR link you can get. You are not building links just for Google SERPs, but Bing, Yahoo, and other Search Engines as well.

    The nofollow won't help boost your PageRank, but it will help with your SERPs.

    Nofollow links don't help to improve SERP but it can help to get traffic. A link from PR6 will definitely help your site. And always try to make a mixture of dofollow and nofollow. It'll look natural.

        Yes, Page Rank wont increase but SERPS will.

    Yes a PR 6 no-follow backlink will benefit you. Getting just do-follow backlinks to your site could seem suspicious in the eyes of big G. Diversity is key in today's SEO world.

    The NO follow links can actually hurt you. Just try to spam on many sites at once using your money keyword, and after 3 weeks say goodbye to your rank. If you follow the good practices of anchor link diversity and make sure they're all natural and not just crap, then they could improve the ranks for a fact. Especially if you keep the low keyword ratio in the anchor text and do diversify it once again. That's my opinion.

      any link is good.

      although google does not count that link towards ranking (as far as we know) google probably keeps track of the links for statistical purposes which may affect your rankings.

      besides that, you get traffic from people clinking on the link - you know, the whole point of links. diversify, make it look natural, and don't fixate on such small things is my humble opinion.

      That wouldn't prove that nofollow links harm your website. It only proves that google has an anti-spammer system in place for relatively new websites. Try spamming yahoo.com with spam links and see what happens.

    I've tested this over and over. Never measured any increase or decrease in SERP's for the pages and no increase in PR for any of the pages tested. Total bust! All linked pages contained the same exact subject.
