I Killed a Site With Fiverr

I have a relatively new domain (exactly 1 month old). It's a near exact match domain (mykeywordphrase.com). As of the 14th I was #2 for "my keyword phrase" and #98 for "keword phrase".

I created a dozen web properties and used fiverr (link pyramids) to boost these properties. They all had a couple links to the site. One was "keyword phrase" and the other was "www.mykeywordphrase.com"

Then, I think I got greedy. I used the same gig (panda/penguin safe--they said) and got around 150 backlinks to my homepage with 4 different keywords (including "click here" and "learn more"). Still seems cautions and safe to me.

Searchenginegenie says my site is at 121 for "keyword phrase" without the quotes (2,900 monthly searches). When I search manually, it's nowhere to be found in all 1,000 places. It's been gone for 3 days now, but searchenginegenie says it's there.

Is it working out a new position, or has it been penalized because of the backlinks? It still ranks for "my keword phrase" but nobody will ever search that term, and I built no backlinks using that term.

I'm in the process of creating a new, similar site but I will not use fiverr to backlink to the money site at all. I think I've learned my lesson.

The site is still young, it's natural for it to bounce around in the rankings at this stage. I would stop buying fiverr gigs for link building though, and would use a much higher variation of your anchor text keeping exact match 20% or under with a lot of variety and partial matches.

That's what I'm hoping. I've wrecked sites before this way but I was far more aggressive before. I thought I was being cautious this time. The fiverr backlinks were divided as: "click here", "learn more", "keyword phrase", and "variation of keyword phrase" I didn't have a problem until I used fiverr to link to the money site.

If it comes back or not, I'll let you guys know. I think it's a penalty though.

You say you've ruined other sites like this before. I wonder if its possible Google may be on to you now and has flagged any site you put out now for further inspection.

A recovery? Yesterday and today this site has appeared EVERYWHERE from a low of position 130 to just over 300. It has been bouncing all over the place and never settles anywhere permanently yet. I've never had a site do this before.

Anybody know exactly what's going on? I'm wondering if it's because Google is discovering the new backlinks and it's trying to find its place. At least it's back someplace. Maybe no permanent damage, though I wouldn't be surprised if I get one of those notices (haven't yet).

As they replied it will be google dance!

Stop buying fiverr gigs for now and wait 1-2 weeks and then if you want a seo service buy something from a reputable member here

Then you will have the results you want

Stop buying Fiverr gigs forever. Seriously it boggles the mind tht people think they are ever going to have a good long term experience using Fiverr gigs. Even if you find a so called "good one" how long will it be good? Anyone that can provide solid links would continue to do so for what reason?

because they are so stupid they would not rank sites themselves and make more that $3-$4 per client?

Fiverr has been brought up alot on WF recently and I think allot of people are being put of by fiverr after reading around. To me It does sound like you may have some sort of penalty, after a site running for only a month I think it was silly of you to buy a spammy 150 backlink package. Fiverr can be a great service to use as others have stated when it comes to SEO and backlinking but you have to be careful, and a bit of common sense can help. I mean you knew them 150 backlinks were going to be spammy, when it costs you only $5. I don't mean to have a go and think you had the right idea with the web properties and using fiverr to boost those, however when it comes to using fiverr for your site only a very few of the things on there will help you the rest will hurt you in some way shape or form.

Don't worry it's not dead, well not yet anyway ....

Just continue to buildngi links and go for some social bookmarking links (they give out good signal to google).

Supercharge these links by submitting them to RSS directions.

It may just be bouncing around at this point. I've seen sites disappear for a few weeks, and then show back up in a better spot than ever.

Honestly though, you get what you pay for with Fiverr. If you want true long-term success, it's best to invest wisely, even if it means spending a little more upfront.

Google has to decide where your site would fit in with all the backlinks now. I do a little blog commenting and I see more than three on the same day can take me off the first page now for some keywords. But they do come back, usually in a higher position.

If you are going to backlink directly to the site, it needs to be dripped in. Just keep getting backlinks slowly to all your pages.

Follow this advice for your new site. Build some links slowly before doing another Fiverr gig. Better to drip feed to your main site. Use the gigs for links mostly to your feeder sites.

        Update...
Don't use fiverr. At least not on your money site. Ten days after the fiverr gig I no longer rank for the two keywords I was targeting. While not a keyword, I ranked #2 for "my keyword phrase". It now sits at #274. No one will search for "my key word phrase" but it is the domain name. Before the fiverr gig, I ranked around #96 for "keyword phrase" for the last 3 days it is somewhere beyond #1,000.

My strategy has been FEWER backlinks but making those backlinks count. I did a little article marketing to this site after the site was indexed (goarticles, sooperarticles, articlebase) and that didn't hurt my rankings.

I built a dozen feeder sites (wordpress.com, blogspot, tumblr, webs.com etc) and linked these to my site (2 links per site--url + exact anchor), and that didn't hurt my ranking. I then purchased a fiverr gig for each web 2.0 property and that didn't kill my site in the rankings.

Within 2 days after the gig for my money site was completed, that's when the trouble began.

Before Penguin, I was ranking with this strategy. Others were too. So now I know what doesn't work, and I'd like to know what does work without getting my next site penalized. Not backlinking AT ALL doesn't work. How do those of you who are succeeding post Penguin build backlinks?

I worked on that site full time for a month. Seemed longer, so it seemed okay to build backlinks. Looking back, I was too impatient. I don't really blame the fiverr gig itself but my own plan. Here are a few of the mistakes I think I made:

      1) Linking directly to money site with fiverr gig (150 backlinks--4 different anchor texts)
      2) Linking my 12 feeder sites to money site too early. Both feeder sites and money site should have aged longer. The feeder sites should have aged and gained some credibility as legitimate websites before I started linking to my money site.
      3) Should have linked the 12 feeder sites slowly--not 24 nearly identical links in less than 1 week

You learned a valuable lesson Carl. Just keep moving forward and don't give up on your site.

If you backlink, you don't need a huge amount of links post Panda and they need variety, and done slowly.

It now sits at #293 so who knows if it'll come back. Hopefully others will learn from this too. Google doesn't mess around if they think you're manipulating their search engine.

The domain is mykeywordphrase.net (my is the actual prefix). I now own mykeywordphrase.org and that brings up a few new questions. The site I'm working on (both are static sites) looks completely different, however, right now I'm designing the site structure exactly the same. Is this a mistake? Should the file names be different? The content will be rewritten and pass copyscape, but at this point, the pages have the same file names as the .net site. Something tells me that may be a mistake. How would you start over? I like the site and it has great potential if I don't screw it up so I want to pretty much rebuild what I lost. I can rewrite the 25 pages over the weekend.

  • What do you expect for 5 dollars? Yes there are a few OK fiverr gigs but most of them are nothing but spam.

Use much more different anchor texts for your links. Hundreds of different anchors looks more natural then 3-5

Always keep a buffer from your money site with fiverr backlinks. What you need to remember is that you have learned a lesson, and you were not even on page 1 for your KW phrase, then it would have sucked.

link pyramids and link wheels don't really work well, especially given the amount of work required to produce them. i do use a gig on fiver for a press release site I like to submit to but other than that their 10k link and 6 layer link pyramids are just absolute garbage.

I'd rather buy them for my competitor than my own site (notice this is a joke, I stand against negative SEO strongly)

I expected backlinks. The mistake was mine 100%-- not the gig. When I purchase backlinks, I NEVER go for the 20,000 that lure so many.

I purchased 150. I was given the option of up to 4 anchor text. I made 2 generic and 2 RELATED to my keyword choice. That's only 35 exact match anchor texts. I think that's the reason I'm not totally deindexed. The experience has been good and has taught me some of the limits.

My big mistake was wanting QUICK results by using them for my money site because my site, once indexed STAYED at or right near #100. It NEVER bounced around until I did the backlinks to the money site (not the feeder sites)

I admitted it was a mistake. But the mistake was NOT the fiverr gig. It was how I used it.

      Again, I should have...
      1) left the money site alone
      2) created my feeder sites earlier (and first)
      3) let the feeder sites age before backlinking to them

What other options do those of us have who can't now afford to go into debt for some of these tools that want $100 a month (or even $67)??? I was making a full-time income (low but it was enough) until April 24th. Now I have to figure out how to recover.

Probably coincidental since the site is so young, many of those links may not even of had time to settle in and be indexed. Build out quality content in the time being and ride the SERP waves.

It is not fiverr per se. It is the fact that you direct linked a number of links to your site in a short period of time. Plus it was new and naturally would not get a lot of links right off, most likely.

Google is really ticklish about direct linking and I don't think that will go away any time soon. You have to do things slowly now, if you do backlinks.

Carl, it is going to take time, when it goes down that far, give it three to six weeks. Occasionally longer.

      Hi,

so it is better to buy a recommend fiverr gig linkwheel or lesser (so 250 edu and gov backlinks) and link these backlinks/ or link pyramids first to my squidoo niche page( or weebly, hubpage and so on) and then 1 backlink from squidoo to my money site.

Is that safer and better and my money site rank fast too troughout squidoo???

Or should I buy these recommend fiverr gigs with 5000 diverse profil link pyramid and link direct to my money site?

Which method is better and safer?
