Hey All,

Real quick question: SEO works in Ebay listings, too, right? I mean, can you optimize content in the listing with keywords you'd like it to pop up for the way you can with Google? I seem to remember hearing that Ebay's search engine comes from Google; is that true?

Yes it works, make sure to link your own page and promote external linking. Regarding E-bay search engine comes from google not sure but i think its different, not sure.

Ebay's search engine doesn't come from google and SEO with eBay thinking about google is a waste of time IMHO because ebay itself is indexed very bad on google.
Seems like google prefer Amazon by far....

Definitely works but I with mmmyway regarding the search engine. The title of your listing is important and so are the key words that you put on the item description. Not only that but you'd have to make sure to put your listing under the right category and then be as much detailed about your items as possible.

    Goodluck!

      Regarding details about your product:

UPC is also very important on eBay if you want to appear in google shopping.
Actually if you want to be extra smart - search for the product on google shopping, browse to the bottom of the page and copy all the data that's in there to your item specifications on eBay.

      Example?

      This iPad for example:
      Apple iPad 2 Wi-Fi 16 GB - Black

If you browse down you can see this data:

      Details

      Product Type Tablet
      Operating System Apple iOS 5
Type 9.7" IPS TFT - LED backlight
      Resolution 1024 x 768 ( 132 ppi )
      Touchscreen Multi-Touch
First Seen On Google Shopping March 2011

Copy it to your item's specifications on eBay...

When optimizing for Ebay, you should first consider the listing title. Try to include about one to three keywords in your listing title. You listing description should be brief but detailed too.
