What are the best free backlink sources, similar to squidoo?

    In my opinion the best free backlink source is guest blogging. It's not easy and quick like some methods but it will provide much better results. I'd rather spend an hour getting a quality backlink that will also bring quality traffic, rather than spending that hour to get 100 backlinks that won't do anything for me, or worse affect my site in a negative way.

    Like Dan said, guest posting. But dont waste your time, make sure it is a reputable site you are posting on. It doesnt take long to write a half-decent 500-1000 word article. Not only does this get you a quality backlink, but that article will be there forever, promoting your site.

    Quality links are the way to go. You could download a free tool and blast ten thousand stat links for example, but apart from maybe helping with indexing, you won't see much else happen. Guest blogging/authoring is a good way (check my sig if you want a guest blogging opportunity).
