Serious question about backlinks

Hello team!!

According to spyGlass seo software my squidoo lens (webpage) has 97 backlinks and I am ranked in the 3 page on google.com

But my competitor who is in the first position in google.com according to spyGlass has 19 backlinks..

I have made my backlinks manually and I have also made an on-page optimization but I do not understand why my lens is in the page 3 and under some pages which are more likely squeeze pages and my first positioned competitor who has less backlinks is number one in google..... ?

Please guys help me!!

    Your competitor has higher quality links than you, it is not only about quantity.

    Keep building quality/quantity links and you will move up.

    The Link Value in SpyGlass is some measurement they came up with that has to do with the Pagerank and the number of outgoing backlinks. It really does not mean anything definitive when it comes to Google.

    There are many factors involved. Unfortunately, since Google doesn't publish each of those factors, we can only guess. But if you were to get backlinks on high PR pages, you have a high chance of improving your rank. Try blog commenting on high PR pages.

      DylanC has a very good point. I'd ad that the blogs and forum you build links from must be relevant to your niche to carry most weight. On ways to finding these there is and EXCELLENT WF thread here:

    There are likely other factors involved, too. For example, does the competitor have an exact match domain? How old is the competitor's site (older = most trust)? There may be links your competitor has that don't show up in SpyGlass.

    All other things equal, a stand-alone domain is likely to rank higher than a Squidoo Lens.

    Keep adding content and building quality links.

    Remember, Quality always rule over quantity. One quality link is much better then 100 ordinary links.

    There are two likely reasons

    1.) Spyglass is not capturing all of your competitor's backlinks
    2.) Your backlinks suck compared to the #1 site. Example.) You have 97 pr 0 links. Your competitor has 1 - pr 2 link with low OBL. Your competitor wins.

    I find it harder to rank over another site with micro sites and lens.. even with better backlinks..

    Don't think about quantity because quality is much matter than quantity. I think, the quality of your backlinks are not much higher as your competitor have and this was the reason behind the better ranking of your competitor.
