Hi guys,

I have been talking to some clients and some friends I have who do SEO work and it seems that people are switching more to Bing for their searches.

Can anyone confirm if this is true. Please do let me know.

Google owns @ 90% of all search engine traffic and as far as Bing growing in popularity...
it doesn't seem to be happening.
People don't like change I suppose.

Google has about 67% share of the search market according to everything I've read, not sure where you got 90% from.

No, if anything their traffic appears to be going DOWN.

I tried Bing out for a search I was having problems with. It gave me much better results than the ones I had from G at that point. But I haven't used it since.

You reminded me of a topic I just managed to find in a search, some of the people here like Bing.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I guess we do not have a consensus on what is happening.

How many of YOU personally use Bing now for your daily searches?

    Please do chime in!

I have been using Bing more often since Penguin was implemented back in April. It seems the results provide a much better and more reliable type of information website than Google does any longer, especially for a serious subject research on say a health issue or financial investment research type search.

Additionally, I also began using Bing more often since I accidently found out that if I am using Internet Explorer all I have to do is type the search term in the browser address bar window area and hit enter - found this by accident one day when I began typing the search term and thought the cursor was in the Google toolbar but it was actually in the browser's address bar (apparently this is new to IE9?).

I have talked to other marketers that state that since the Penguin update, Bing is giving better results.

But I know that one of my larger clients gets better conversion from Bing and Yahoo than Google.

I use both Bing and Google. On occasion, I switch to Yahoo. I'm not always fond of the way Google brings up search results, so it was time to also use the other two, however, it's been mostly Bing over Yahoo, both have been helpful.

I don't know if it's happening -I personally am not using Bing yet

I keep telling myself that I should because Bing is the only viable alternative right now to the New Evil Empire.

Competition is good for everyone. It may even do good to Google.

I am not sure if Bing is taking over search engines, but I've noticed a steady traffic from Bing though Google is still a top source of searches... well atleast for my sites. I agree with others above, Bing seems to give more relevant results. Well I think Google better up their game, healthy competetion is always good.

I rarely use Bing. Most of the time that I am consciously looking for a search engine I always use Google. Most of the time when I use Bing is if I am on a shared computer and it loads up automatically.

I have however found that some of the results appear more relevant. I might start using it more often. Then again I might not. Old habits die hard and all that.

They're far from dominating the market, but each week that goes by with Google delivering sloppy results, people are slowly re-"discovering" Bing through word of mouth.

Right now, Bings results are far more relevant. They don't slap your eyeballs with ads and and let's not forget....Spiderman uses Bing. 'Nuff said.

Yes, this is what I am hearing.

Many people are getting more comfortable with using Bing for searching the web... probably because it provides better results.

No, I am not using bing and not interested to use that in near future as well. Google is fine with me. If there will no Google, I will star using Yahoo, probably not bing.

Bing... I use Bing for my personal searches now. I compared Bing results to Google results for the type of searches I've been doing, and I have found Bing results better and more reliable. I have also been encouraging my FB friends to switch.

Google has not been kind to my previous page 1 SERPs either, so although they will never miss me, or even 100,000 IMers, I feel no kindness toward google either.

It really doesn't matter if every person on WF switched from Google to Bing. This is way too small and specific of an audience. What matters is the overall traffic to Google versus Bing - that's why the statcounter stats and the alexa stats are more informational when we try to make decisions on what to focus on.

So far, Bing has made some inroads, but Google still rules the roost. More importantly, Bing is still losing money BIG TIME, while Google is making piles of money. I wonder how much longer Micro$oft will tolerate the bleeding moneypit of Bing. They just wrote down over six BILLION dollars charged against their online efforts because they bought a company to help them make online advertising work, and it didn't work out.

As an aside - for anyone mentioning Bing versus Yahoo - Bing right now provides the search results for Yahoo. Yahoo shut down all their own independent search results. It will be interesting to see if the new Yahoo CEO revisits that decision, but I don't expect any changes in the short term.

I do not use Bing for my searches. Google is the default go-to search engine for so many people it doesn't make sense to use a different search engine. I used to work for a company that developed an alternative search engine and we couldn't get people to use it even if we paid them.....

I don't know if it's gaining. I think it's best chance would be for IE to come back into favor. and default people to Bing. They are running IE9 ads during the Olympics so that might help.

I personally use Bing far more than Google. Results returned are almost invariably superior, especially when I need to use a search engine for academic research purposes.

If I search for almost any phrase on Google I can, with a great deal of clairvoyance, predict exactly what results will be returned:

    * Dozens of barely-related (or very low quality) YouTube videos. My personal favorite are those 30 second slideshow videos that simply promote an affiliate link. Oh I am so glad Google has decided these videos are more relevant than proper, written content on smaller domains.

    * Amazon listings left, right, and center.

    * Yahoo Answers results in numbers to rival a locust swarm.

    * Crappy, thin, affiliate sites abound.

Or I could just go to Bing and get some good, honest search results.

      good information. thanks

given the information shown here i would say it does matter as marketers and otherwise.

if bing is giving more accurate results then we can assume it will save us time in finding the information we need. as far as marketing we are going to assume that a user smart enough to switch over to switch over to a search that is going to give them more accurate results is more likely to be a money maker $$$. so, even though the crowd on google may use that search engine more, a small group on bing may be spending more money because they have more money to spend. assuming of course that smarts = money. lol

Like someone said earlier i would cover google, but make sure Bing is second on the list as it may turn out to be less competitive and more profitable.

I haven't been using Bing, not used to. I'm so used to google that whenever it comes to my mind to search something, I automatically type in the address bar in chrome and it gives google result. Reading above, I might have to try Bing for sometime and see if Im getting better results.

Hey guys, thanks for the great feedback.

Yes, I personally think Google's results have been a little odd lately.

I mean.. I am seeing websites with 0 backlinks and 0 social shares ranking at the top.

    What is going on?

With Bing, as far as I can see, only sites with an established profile are ranking at the top..
