What is the point of a Link Pyramid?

Load of crap imo. SENuke / Xrumer all produce worthless links so what's the point? Pure spam which Google will see through. For my client's I spend up to $250 for 1 link. In general, the harder and more expensive the link, the more powerful it is.

Link pyramid is the best way to boost your serp ranking but if it will be done in professional way. I have ranked my client websites with link pyramid and they are still ranked. There is no problem at all with link pyramid but again if it will be done so professionally . The forums profiles can be deleted soon. In my point of view the wiki links are the best weapon.

Even the concept of link pyramid does need to remain stable over the net because as you have mentioned, if some links drop off the cycle, their impacts on ranks will be like zero because once links are gained and established, it is essential to keep them in place so that even after months and years, Google and other search engines find them online. Link pyramids might be created naturally sometimes, especially when discussing how certain blog posts can manage to win publicity in no time.

Using some artificial networks and methods might generate only temporary results but after a while the effects will diminish and your site might experience drops in ranks. Some big SEO companies might offer link pyramids, especially in highly competitive and very hot niches which are extremely tough to approach but they normally know what they are doing, creating networks of relevant websites that will ultimately affect the ranks of the link recipients, and they will be fixed too.

Link Pyramids are not a new idea but the use of them, to build substantial linking through multiple levels without fear of the end site being penalized by the search engines for any massive surge in link popularity.

Link pyramid was one of the most powerful link building methods used to get your website rank higher on top of the Search engines. The main thing behind the Link Pyramid is that while link juice can pass from one site to the next, ranking penalties generally stop after one step. It works on basis that the lowest quality sites link upwards to the next higher quality sites in your network
Link Pyramid has three levels. Base Links, Mid-Grade Links and High Quality Links.

Yes, it is true that most of the web 2.0 site links is generating a bad reputation for the link which it is optimized. Hence don't follow link schemes like link pyramid, link wheel and so on which are affecting the reputation of site according to the recent update happened on July 25th 2012. This should be taken seriously.

It's not about the strategy that makes it a spam. It's how you use it. People think it's a spam because they think that pyramid linking is as simple as submitting links to spam sites. Well, it can be if you really going to do it.

Im sorry but 1 experiment with no expertise and using bottom of the barrel links is no way to judge a link pyramid strategy. The purpose of a link pyramid is to push link juice to the money site while spreading it out amongst many different sites to "lessen the blow" of the amount of links coming in and not be subject to any penalties associated with mass linking 1 site.

Bleh. It has some utility but lets face it the amount of "link juice" is way overestimated and those amount of links as you put it do have a way of dropping off rapidly. You can't put the Op down by claiming lack of expertise. The majority of the links in most link pyramids on WF in particular suck especially when people go to three tiers and above.

Its all about how you do a pyramid and what quality and care you take. I agree most WF services and such are god awful. I just wouldn't knock a strategy that I've found to be incredibly solid and stable when done right just because of a Senuke blast with no care put in. A nice link pyramid using high PR links and high quality web 2.0's is amazingly powerful and sets a strong foundation that is hard for Google to unravel. Once again assuming things are done properly.

The key is consistency. You just gotta keep pushing those pyramids.

You need to keep in mind that this takes time. Patience will bring your best SEO results. Just keep plugging in those links, and your sites will rise.

We DO NOT use link pyramids with clients - we link from our massive private network that we invest over $250,000/year into.

However, we've done tons of experimenting with link pyramids on a variety of sites we set up, ranging from high-quality hand-built sites and Web 2.0's on down to the automated stuff.

Done right, a link pyramid will rank a site even for very competitive keywords - BUT - it is only temporary. The site will rank for 2 or 3 months and then it will start dropping again for lack of link diversity. At least this is what we've seen.

This is very very different from building links from our network where we've never seen a client site drop in rank unless they did something dumb like buy more links from a low-quality provider.
