What's your kw density?
How did you find your keywords?
Does your site have proper internal SEO?
What kind of backlinks are you using?
Do you have any EDU/GOV blogs?

1. Not too sure, but I only have the KW in 1st sentence, 2-3 times throughout the body and once in the last paragraph.

2. GKT, and by cheking the competition on page 1 of Google.

3. Yes. Correct H1,2,3 tags, interlinking etc.

4. Web 2.0, social bookmarking, article submission, blog commenting.

5. No.

Websites are about 2 months old.

Sorry to say this, but this isn't really white hat SEO.

White hat doesn't mean manual. You can (somewhat automate) white hat and do black hat manually.

What matters to me isn't what hat you wear but what works.

And no matter what hat you consider web 2.0s, social bookmarking etc. the fact remains that it's not the most effective link building on the planet.

You may want to rethink your approach.

You don't say how old the site is, it may have a bearing on whether your site gets ranked for overused keywords or not.

As for backlinking, if done naturally, it can't harm any, but don't give great credence that just because you spread a few links about you will automatically get ranked anywhere for your keywords or posts, or articles. It's all up to Google, there are billions of webpages out there.
I would concentrate on media buys and do ppc and get traffic that way, don't just rely on Google, they make take years to rank your site to get enough traffic. There is no shortage of paid traffic!

Also try some ranking software to see if you're at least in the back 20 pages. I prefer SERPFox but RankTracker is decent as well. This would at least give you an easy way to track or help you scope your site if you're missing it.

What kind of keywords are you targeting? Tiny niche keywords can rank quickly - major keywords can require thousands of backlinks and other factors.

Are your sites getting indexed? What do Google's webmaster tools tell you? Do you have a sitemap.xml file on all your sites, and has it been submitted to Google?

Pardon me asking - but sometimes simple things slip through - if you are using WordPress, are your privacy settings allowing Google to index your site?

I guess the catch is about your website age online because in even very light niches these days, since there is a lot of domains and newly set up websites competing with each other, there is the need to be and remain patient for some time like at least several months. If six months passes and you still are not able to find your website among the first 1000 websites listed on Google, that's the time to think about some other solutions so at present you should worry that much, you know.

Just read some threads and you will notice that some people even after one year since launching of their websites are still complaining from poor results achieved online. There is a mysterious phenomenon called the Sandbox which prevents new websites, possibly yours too is in the game now, from even appearing among 1000 sites for some time, the hotter keywords and markets targeted, the longer waiting times. By the way, do not forget to add some good content pages to your website.

Even if your sites are about 2 months old, you should at least be seeing them as indexed in Google, even if they're not ranking. Are you not seeing when you put the URL in quotes into Google?

In 2 months if you've done good competition research you should be at least visible in Google somewhere, he's not showing up at all.

I think I may have found the problem. I used firebug and found that near the bottom of the page there are 6 hidden links on most of the sites, which means I've been hacked. I thought that Google was meant to send you a message when something like this happens. Anyway, if I manage to get rid of them, will Google start ranking the pages?

Is there anyone who would be willing to help me out, here? I could send you a PM with a couple of my sites...

I've manged to find out that the links are in my robots.txt file, but when I access this file in File Manager, I can't see the links anyway. So confused. I hope Bluehost can help me out.

Try using a piece of ranking tracking software or web app to see if the site is showing up, otherwise you could be facing some really tough competition or you could have really pool links.

There might be 2 reasons why you are not ranking well:

1. You are targeting the wrong keyword (overly competitive). Trying to rank for terms like "car insurance" will take a tremendous amount of effort and a long time.

2. You are only backlinking to your homepage or a certain page and hence making your link profile looks unnatural. Google is paying a very close attention to your link profile since the Penguin and Panda update. It does not matter whether you build your backlink manually or not. You must keep your link profile natural.

Thanks for the tips. I get what all you guys are saying, but I don't understand why when I type in the title of one of my posts in quotes, the only links I see are to sites that have syndicated my articles, social bookmarking sites and article directories. My website is nowhere to be found.

I did my KW research, and while some of the terms are not incredibly easy to rank for, they should still be showing up in Google, particularly the long tail keywords.

Because all of those sites have far more authority than your site. The article on your site may still have not been crawled. Did you check to see if the URL is indexed or not?

have you bought the domain name ? have you used to SEO on that URL before ?

Check if the website is indexed and if searching from title, you can not find your website then it is hit be penguin update.

The websites are a couple of months old, so it is unlikely that I have been hit by the penguin update, especially as I have only focused on whitehat techniques. I've removed the hidden links that the hacker put on my sites, so I will send a reconsideration request to google, which I hope should change things.

It is possible someone other to having blasted your website and do a "black hat method" to you. Just keep adding new content and more backlinks (BUT backlinks from high quality website, for example web2.0 will work perfect!)

Apart from paying attention towards onsite SEO, you must also take care monitor the performance of your website. If, your website remains down for the maximum time, it will be hard for you to optimism the site across various search engines. also, ask your SEO professionals to do search engine submissions as primarily.

First start up with proper keyword research and analysis, always maintain unique content then get backlinks from quality sites. No doubt your keyword ranking would rise gradually.

2 mnths is nothing. But did you submit the articles to hubs before you published it on your own site? Then Google might consider it as unoriginal and push it back.

Also chec if the site validate in W3C.

Would also be helpful with alink to the site ...

Google doesn't want you to go out there and build links. It wants you to create useful content so that the links come to you.
