Does an increase in webmaster tool backlinks trigger Google dance?

Hello warriors! My site is ranking number 12 in my main keyword for a week now. But when I checked my ranking today, it jumped down to rank 42. When I checked my webmaster account, I found out that the number of backlinks have increased for more than a thousand.

Does an increase in webmaster tool backlinks can trigger Google dance?

Or is this the Google Panda Update 3.9? :confused:

    Unless you had some content go viral you are a prime candidate for an unnatural link notice and penalty particularly if you are the one that either placed them or paid to have them placed (Due to the kinds of links people rely on to add a thousand links in a short time).

      I'm building all my backlinks manually and slowly. I think the thousand link Google have detected are links from blog comments where my comment was placed on the recent comment section of those sites.

        If they are the same kinds of links that people place fast then it won't matter much - they are still low quality

        No need to think - look it up but seriously if you are saying a thousand links showing up coincides with the drop then you were not building half as slowly as you are indicating
