Also, where can I get information on the life cycle of a domain? In what phase does it actually "reset" or lose any/all of its ranking?

    I don't personally use it, because i don't generally pick up dropped domains.

    But, the site dropday.com has every single domain to the second it's dropping and you can search by just about any metric you can think of from exact match searches to pr to alexa ranking.
