Algo updates and recovery times

I thought it would be an interesting thread to discuss recovery times when your sites were hit by algo updates. When was your site hit by panda or penguin, and how long did it take you to see a recovery? Did you gain back all of the traffic you had previous to the algo update?
One of my sites was hit by penguin on april 24th, and hasn't yet recovered... while on that topic... isn't the next penguin update taking its time?? Been 2 months since the last one.
