Ever since the google penguin updates, it seems like one of my .org sites have almost fallen off the G map. I've had other sites that only dropped a page or two and the .org site meets all that google is looking for.

Are these sites now being penalized more for the nature of what info marketers use them for vs. their original purpose (charities, non-profits e.t.c.)? Curious for the feedback.

I have several .org sites that have not been effected. This is new info to me that it's getting penalized.

No - there's no penalty to .org sites.

However, penalties do exist for bad practice no matter what the site is or what domain extension is used, so if your site has poor structure, bad loading times or dodgy linking (or over-SEO) then you can easily get slapped.
