Does this make sense to anyone? Should I have made more? What could I be doing wrong?

That sounds pretty bad. You must have some untargetted traffic.

Maybe your stuff is so good that your visitors don't feel compelled to click an ad to try to get away from your site.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Must be total garbage traffic, You need targeted traffic to make good money.

It does seem to be a bad result. I agree that the traffic needs to be targetted traffic, rather than people who are not looking for what you have.

Thanks for these thoughts. When you say targeted traffic, what exactly does that phrase mean? A lot of my traffic comes from stumble upon, and lately, its been from google.

Targeted traffic means they are looking for something specifically that your website is offering.

Stumbleupon traffic is only good for increasing traffic numbers. They aren't looking for much. Like the name says, they're just stumbling.

If your site doesn't offer what they were looking for, they won't look for links/ads to click that might give them a better answer. They'll just immediately hit the "stumble" button.

Visitors doesn't equal money, doesn't matter If it's Adsense or your selling BMWs.

You have to match the visitor to a product or service they would be interested in. Just like a BMW salesman wouldn't go looking for sales leads at a county jail, those guys won't be driving any time soon.

Seriously that's all IM is about, we're match makers, match the product/service to the correct traffic, not just any traffic.

Your site's have 3 seconds to capture and hold your visitors attention before they hit back button, think again...

Problem may be on Ads position or how much time spend your visitors on website, if they enter website and after 2 or 3 seconds leave site you won't get clicks on ads.

For gripes sake, create a product/service and make some proper $$$, how does $2 EPC sound? all you adsense guys are great at getting traffic yet suck at turning those clicks into income, heck at least build a list, don't place all your eggs in the adsense crapshoot...

Stumbleupon traffic weren't so good for my site too. In my opinion, SU only create a social buzz but not so good for clicking on ads. If your content is extremely good, a small % of the SU users will comeback later or share your page on Facebook, Twitter, etc. but mostly they just leave your site because a lot of visitors from SU stay from only a few sec or even less.
I've also made a thread because I got quite bad results with adsense.
I did big design and ad placing changes on my site few days ago and now I have better CTR and also got a 1€ ad click. Also, try placing 728x15(if I remember well) sized link units close to your article. Even if it's garbage traffic, they have clicked on it on my site.
Try blending your ads too to get better results.
I am a newbie in this topic too but these things have helped for me. I hope the experts will correct me(if it's needed) and add some more info.

    Good luck.

I just wanted to update this thread. I moved the adsense ads like many had suggested and though I am not making much, moving them made all the difference. I made $0.58 in one month with over 10,000 visitors but $1.58 today with only about 430 visitors. Like I said, I am not exactly pulling in big money here but it DID make a difference to move the ads. Thanks for your help.

Yes, it's untargetted traffic, and it's not truly useful! Quality is more important than quantity!

Must be untargeted traffic. I've usually got about 1 sale or click from 10K this way. Anybody know any good places to get quality traffic besides here?

Could be because of bots. There's a few of them out there that crawl your site and links. Google doesn't count those clicks.

Are you buying traffic? Because it must be almost impossible to get those poor results if you get search engine traffic.

Changing the ad types to mixed made a lot of difference for a number of our clients, and then fixing to text only withing written content works well too.

There are two ad formats. It is important to choose what will work well with your particular blog.

    AdSense for content:

Based on what your page is about, ads will appear in either text or pictures.

    AdSense for search:

In this case, there will be a search box on your blog and when people type in searches, you are paid.

    To Increase AdSense Earnings

    Constantly ad new content
Continue to pick up more fans.
    By bulding backlinks, and aging.

Why dont you re-arrange your ads position to make it more visible.
    10,000 and only 0.58?
A cpa offer would have made you more for sure.

Targetted traffic and correct ad placement. Remember though it's AdSense... you need a lot of visitors to make a decent amount of money!

I'm going off YouTube monetization here but I've got around 20,000 views for £15 made. (Currently something I'm testing).... so you made barely anything... with correct ad placement and more targeted traffic you might of made £5-£10 off that. ($10-$20).
