My Video is on the 1st page of Google but with no thumbnail. It just looks like a regular blue link. When I click on the Video Tab it idoens show at all, and when I click on the Youtube tab at the top it shows number 1.
I really want my thumbnail.

Does anyone know why this might happen?

Thanks in advance

It happens with my videos at times. While I am not sure about the reason, but the most often I see this happen is when my video is backlinked a lot (I do/manage the backlinking to it) and hence ranks based upon the backlinks.

Also, when they rank in groups (like, 3 youtube videos ranking together) I always get a thumbnail. However, when I rank 1 video (the Youtube group does not rank), I have faced the situation of not having a thumbnail a few times. In almost each of these cases, the video has been in a relatively tough niche and had needed a high number of backlinks to rank.

Check whether this is the case with your video also.

Backlinks to a video on youtube is not the same as a backlink
to a site. Different animal. Much different animal. Your video
exists in cyberspace much the way an image does, but not
quite. Youtube stores the video and shows it by getting
the video code, ?=whatever. Building a backlink with a ?
in it, like youtube, is basically building backlinks to
youtube.com. The "page" your video on youtube resides
      on, is dynamic, constantly changing.

Build backlinks to your youtube channel.

But here's what most people do not understand. The
best, and very best way, of getting thumbnails and
"helping" google, is to embed the video on a page that
is SEO'd for the video. That's the first trick. Second,
and this is where it gets interesting, is to only have
one, yes just one, video on a page.

Then, third, backlink to THOSE pages.
