I am working on a site, and I'm wondering about nofollow. The site's based on Wordpress. Here are some questions:

Should I nofollow:

1. Navigation links
2. Social media sharing links
3. Links to social media sites
4. Related posts links in every post
5. Latest and Most Popular Posts widget links
6. Internal images in post content
7. Internal links in post content

I've also noticed that Google indexes the anchor text of related posts (which can be found in every single post), which causes it to return search results with posts that are completely unrelated. For example, a post called "Skyrim Review" contains a related post link that leads to "Diablo Review," which causes "Skyrim Review" to be shown when the search query is "Diablo Review," or even "Diablo."

Another, quite similar thing, that I've noticed: When searching for for example "Doom Review," and there are "Latest Posts" in the sidebar, in which two links say "Quake Review" and "Mario Review," the query for "Doom Review" would return results of every single page in my site, as every single page contains the widget.

    1. Definitely do no put a no follow on this one. You want google to follow your navigation throughout the site and internal linking is key.
    2. Maybe - not sure on this one.
    3. Are they your social media sites? If so leave it. Its ok to follow there.
    4. Leave it you want google to follow to related posts. Helps with SEO.
    5. I would say leave this too.
    6. Yes follow these too - just be sure they are hosted on your site and have alt image tags related to your keyword.
    7. Depends on where they are going.

      1. Even if I have a dynamic sitemap.php and sitemap.xml?
      2.
      3. What I mean is my social media profiles for Twitter, Facebook and Google +1.
      4. *solved*

      7. For example, a post about a new update for a game linking to game information page, or another news updated, etc..

So the conclusion is to leave everything as follow. Thanks for reassuring.

I am, however, concerned about the two columns under the numbered list, as it messes up the search results a bit.

Firstly do not nofollow the navigation. And you must check the internal linking too.

Does this mean you nofollow links to relating sites about your post.

Say you are commenting on a recent blog post by someone else, you then write your own post on your own blog referencing that post. You link out to it, so do you nofollow?
