Toady I will be making a couple amazon niches sites, I bought Wolf's amazon tutorial this morning, watched the video and read the content, which brings me to 3 potential strategies.

1. Find a keyword with good amount of monthly searches, good being 4,400 to 12,000 and buy emd domain. This strategy will be for lower priced items, I'll make up for the items being priced lower by having large number of searches.

2. Find high priced items that may have lower search volume, say around 720 to 1,000. I figure the search volume is allowed to be lower since I'll earn more from a high priced item.Buy brand-able authority site type domain, and provide 500 word reviews.

3. Wolf's strategy of finding items that nobody else is promoting. The only thing that makes me hesitate with this method is the fact that wolf says some items will be duds, I don't write reviews myself, these will be outsourced, so I don't want to spend money for nothing.

Also I have one last question, I couldn't find the answer for. Do I have to make product review sites? Can I make sites with unique product descriptions instead?

For example if I target a search term like "timberland boots" and buy a emd, and lets say this search term gets 6,600 a month. Now I feel like all I would need for such a site is 100 to 150 word unique product description, not a 500 word product review.

I personally feel as though product review sites should be based on items that exceed the 100.00 mark.

in my real experience, EMD still does great in ranking, moreover if it's well optimized.
I think the 1st strategy is the most effective and safe strategy, it has more value to us to get our investment back of this low investment. But in my opinion, you really need to consider doing the SEO. That's the point, unless you do the SEO, you don't make good money nor traffic.

Doing proper on site seo is not a problem, at least as far as the basics go, i'm not on a advanced level like say Yukon or somebody, but h1 tags, meta description, title, lsi keywords in article type stuff is well within my capabilities.

Backling is what I worry about most, everybody says social bookmarks and web 2.0s are working so I will stick to that.

    Hi,

If you do a quick 150 word description you'll be missing out on so many LSI and secondary words that you could be ranking for as well. People search for the same thing in many different ways and it's best to capture as much of those searches as possible.

I understand what you are saying, buy say my post is about "timberland boot model number 124" which is just a tan boot, and lets say I have 50 boots featured on my site. I wouldn't know how to tell my writer to write a 500 word article on a single tan boot.

Now if it was a high priced item such as some kind of power saw, than yea I could probably see a 500 word article come from such a item.

This is a great point and is why I don't bother with keyword tools when I build my own sites. Just because the almighty Google keyword tool says "product x" gets 50 searches per month doesn't mean there aren't 100 other very similar terms each also getting 50 searches per month.

Hi Nest! I appreciate the fact that you trust me enough to make the purchase.

Yes, there will be duds. That said, it's not necessarily a waste either. The "duds" still contribute to the overall site and you can always throw links in them to other pages on your site, strengthening your overall internal linking structure.

That said, I get what you mean since you will be paying for content.

You're going to battle other ecommerce sites with similar content but with more pictures+options/large, legit site/shopping cart/brand recognition. Why would they trust your site and click your links? You would do better to convert if you give the reader something.

Because, at least in my case, I am providing what the other sites do not. I'm providing comparisons and reviews and other information that even the big sites do not provide for many products.

I assume that most of my visitors have already been to Amazon. If that's the case, why are they still searching for product info? The answer is easy - they are looking for social validation and for more info not provided by Amazon.

Yeah the backlinking part is a bitch! I'm doing it now and I'm using social bookmarking and tried the Web 2.0 thing. The social bookmarks definitely work but the web 2.0 stuff I'm not so sure about.

For the web 2.0 stuff, I basically created the same username on wordpress.com, hubpages, squidoo, etc. and outsourced one bs article having to with something similar to my niche and then pasting one backlink to my site and recommending my site in the article. Onely one link in the article to my site. How can I check if this works? My PR hasn't improved and should I make that link to the product page (hard to do because of 100) products or my domain? Also would those web 2.0's hopefully bump my PR.

Shoutout to Wolfmiii!! You the man and thanks for the help... you know your sh**!!!

        And goodluck Nest!!

For example if I target a search term like "timberland boots" and buy a emd, and lets say this search term gets 6,600 a month. Now I feel like all I would need for such a site is 100 to 150 word unique product description, not a 500 word product review.
And the only contributing factor I can give to you from trying this is that YOU CAN rank for articles if they are 150 words very well BUT the competition has to be low and what helps is if its one of those products from Amazon that the amazon writers wrote like 1 or two sentences for a description on the product page and like no featured bullet points. There's tons of 3rd party products on there like this so start digging!!!

        Good Luck!

Well number 1, the link will say buy from amazon and that's a trusted site everyone knows, 2 I'm going after low competition keywords so that I can rank in the top three, I never use ugly templates or spammy domain names so any site I make will look like the type of site you would buy from.

I understand what your saying, but I don't think you understand me. I'm not selling 300.00 items that require a 500 word review, I'm thinking more along the lines of 50 to 100 dollars items, that require a simple product description.

I mean can you really write a 500 word review on a table lamp, toilet seat cover, skinny jeans etc. Like I said before if I was planning on using high priced items, than yea I wouldn't think twice about writing a long review because I know customer want to know everything there is to know about a high priced product before they buy, but when it comes to lower priced item like a 20 dollar poster of "the dark knight rises" I doubt they would think twice about spending such a low amount, and I doubt somebody would leave my site because I didn't have a product review on something like that.

First and foremost when you choose your niche and products think about whether a person would like to buy from a physical store down the road or online. For certain items like perfumes or watches people have been known to prefer going to a store for a "look and feel" and then buy what they have liked. I am not sure about shoes but I think you get the idea.

When you write an article for your site you must write at least 500 words. If you look at the sentences you write an average sentence is coming to 20-25 words. 50 words means it is two sentences and four sentences is 100 words. A reader of your article will not be convinced to click through with only 2 or 4 sentences! What is important is that the reader must find your article worthwhile to click through to Amazon. Once there he may choose to buy Timberland boots or maybe something else which he may buy on impulse or something he remembered he had to buy. That's the beauty of Amazon - it knows how to retain customers on its site. Besides it is not enough to rewrite what's given on Amazon for a product. You must write your own too.

Your article need not be about Timberland boots - it can be an article about walking, trekking or hiking and Timberland boots can be a reference with respect to the content in the article.

You can also write on related searches the link to which appears on the left side of a Google search page. When I looked for related searches for "Timberland boots" I got the following results.

    footlocker
    zappos
    macys
    journeys
    nike
    wolverine boots
    work boots
    redwing boots
    mens boots
    winter boots
    custom timberland boots
    timberland pro boots
    timberland womens boots
    cheap timberland boots
    timberland hiking boots

Try and build authority sites where you can write on a variety of topics and keywords and a lack of ideas for content does not bog you down. Moreover, you can keep updating your site regularly unlike a narrow niche blog where you get restricted by the fewer number of products.

The good part is that you are working hard at it so that's half the battle won. With the right attitude and a lot of tips above I am sure you will be able to achieve good results!

I just want to clarify, the more you add content to your site; relevant content and GOOD content, the better it is for everything else to rank? Does Google look into that site more? or "crawl"? Since it's being updated constantly?

      Hi Nest!

I got woflmmiii's blueprint a few days ago and I'm setting out with my first full Amazon affiliate site too. I'm following his exact strategy because I'm aware of some winnable niches that fit the criteria.

I can see why you're hesitant about his strategy since you pay for content creation but it's really not difficult to produce a well researched 350-400 word review that's head and shoulders above most of what is out there for the winnable terms. I'm completely appalled at some of the SERP's I'm seeing.

The onlywire plug is is amazing. I was intimidated at first and it took a while to set things up but once I got it going and got several backlinks in seconds with one button click I was sold. In fact, I now plan to use it on my already established sites for deep linking purposes.

The more I get into it and understand the workings, the more I think wolfmmiii's concept is one of the most brilliant I've seen in a while.

Good luck and I'll be following your progress. Interested to see which strategy you ultimately choose.

Wordpress has more gadgets than batman lol, but sadly I use blogger . I'm going to start with option 1, but I will try all of the above strategies within the next few months. Honestly I'm going to use the same product descriptions as amazon, the reason being I have seen to much proof that having the same description does not effect your site in a negative way.

Some may say well if google does update at least you have original content, but I see walmart, amazon, best buy, and many other big name brands use the same product description, so if google decides to make a update I doubt it will be the kind that would effect some of there biggest advertisers.

If they penalize my site for having same product description, than they will have to do the same, to everybody else, and that's not going to happen. In any event if I'm wrong I'll learn from it and move on, no biggie. I noticed that I do more asking, that actually doing, so I just want to experiment a lot right now.

Also I going after items that are 30 to 100 dollars, I've found a great keyword with 8,100 local monthly searches and top ten are very easy to beat. This will be my first site, by using amazon descriptions this will also make it so I save money, I will only pay 10 for custom domain, and since I use blogger, I wont even be paying hosting fees, so basically all profit.

I foundthis great thread about going after lower priced item here Do the amazon guru's have it wrong this thread kinda supports some of my theories on cheaper products, although I will still make sites based on higher priced products also, and will supply a 500 word review in the very near future.

With the way google are at the moment i would say you have nothing to lose except your time going this route.

I have a review site with original content and how to articles about items i have used for last 30 years in my job, so i know what im talking about and how to get the best from product and keep safe.

Site was doing really well, then on 24th last month message appeared in my webmaster tools.

We've detected that some of your site's pages may be using techniques that are outside Google's Webmaster Guidelines.

What the hell, i have written informative reviews and how to articles not used any black hat, no keyword stuffing. I adopted the write for the reader not the bots approach which is preached on here alot and this is googles response.

And you can guess, all the sites on page one for my keywords have used Amazon desc word for word, and a good portion of them are blogger blogs.

So much for google wanting original content, go for it my friend

You're right WP is pretty cool but then again I have nothing to compare to since I had zero experience with these types of platforms.

Go for it my friend and I hope it goes as planned. I agree with diversification and targeting cheaper products will help to sell more of them to up the commission percentage. I think I'm going to diversify like that too. For every 2 higher priced product niches I target I'll go after 1 with lower priced faster moving products with lots of low hanging fruit too.

I love WF for all the good tips and ideas here. I dunno why I didn't come out out of lurk mode eons ago.

Thanks for the kind words. The strategy really is pretty straightforward. Finding good products can be tricky but the way I do things really works well.

As a matter of fact, I just posted 2 reviews to one of my sites about 3 hours ago. Both are on page one (one is #1 overall) and I'm already seeing traffic. It really doesn't get any easier than that.

I think the problem with using the same product description as amazon is if someone visits your product page after visiting amazon expecting to see a more in-depth review and all they see is a complete copy of what they have just read, then they are just going to hit the exit button and go somewhere else.

I think a better option is to re-word the user reviews on the amazon product page, if there's enough to play with.

Another option is, if the product is popular, you can try to find youtube vids and see what they've got to say about it.

Finding products that seem to fit the mold isn't too excruciating I find, it just takes a bit of digging around. The gems will prove over time of course.

I know your sites are authority now so they rank instantly like you just demonstrated, but for a new site how long do you think it would take to start seeing some action? Is there a benchmark for backlinks and pages that you notice things start to happen?

Also do you have exclusively product reviews on your sites or do you tie in a few information content pages to round things out a bit? I was wondering if that's necessary of if straight product review pages is fine.

Pardon me for jacking your thread Nest.
