Amazon affiliate site strategies, need a little help deciding.

1. Find a keyword with good amount of monthly searches, good being 4,400 to 12,000 and buy emd domain. This strategy will be for lower priced items, I'll make up for the items being priced lower by having large number of searches.
2. Find high priced items that may have lower search volume, say around 720 to 1,000. I figure the search volume is allowed to be lower since I'll earn more from a high priced item.Buy brand-able authority site type domain, and provide 500 word reviews.
3. Wolf's strategy of finding items that nobody else is promoting. The only thing that makes me hesitate with this method is the fact that wolf says some items will be duds, I don't write reviews myself, these will be outsourced, so I don't want to spend money for nothing.
Also I have one last question, I couldn't find the answer for. Do I have to make product review sites? Can I make sites with unique product descriptions instead?
For example if I target a search term like "timberland boots" and buy a emd, and lets say this search term gets 6,600 a month. Now I feel like all I would need for such a site is 100 to 150 word unique product description, not a 500 word product review.
I personally feel as though product review sites should be based on items that exceed the 100.00 mark.
