Finding your true Google ranking

Interesting question for you SEO gurus!

I am promoting a site and monitoring its SERP ranking for over a few months now. When I use different search rank checkers (such as SEO book rank checker) I see that in the Google US I am ranked #35 to #39.

But when I go to Google.com I see it #5 on the first page. I clear all history and settings and I also check from different public computers in my area. I am searching from Australia but go to Google.com

How can I know my true ranking?? and how come my ranking appears so high from Google.com coming from Australia? The site and search term is very global and has nothing to do with geographic location.

Would LOVE to hear your thoughts..

I don't really know what you are doing but looks like you are doing something wrong.

    Clear your history
    Clear your cookies

Google your entire site and the .com if it shows darker blue than the other result that means you didn't clear cookies and history well, do it again until your site shows the same color as the other result.

Go to Google and if it didn't open as google.com hit the button that takes you back to Google.com and search your keywords.

You can also use Rank Checker to check your site ranking and you have the option to choose whichever country you want to check your ranking for.

Different Google sites uses different data centers. And keywords competency also depends on the geographic location, whether you are considering it or not. If I check ranking for one of my top keyword using Google.com with my local IP, its ranking is different then when I checked the same keyword using US IP.
