SEO advice on a new Q&A Site

I recently built and launched a new Q&A / Discussions site with a social element. I wondered if anyone had any tips for driving traffic to the site? I am not sure if SEO would be an option?

      Participate in forums and include a link to your site in your signature. Submit your website to directories. Send out press releases and spread the word about your project. Create a Facebook fan page and build your network.

    A Q&A site certainly does sound interesting from an SEO perspective. If it is a broad Q&A I think SEO will be hard. The best thing would probably be to encourage a lot of activity on the site. Like some people said use facebook, forum signatures etc.

    First of all create valuable content. Find good keywords like "How to ...". Create content based on these. And place good links. High PR - is good, but I would rely on site's trust, age, and traffic.

    I run an article directory so I know what you are dealing with. It can be difficult since you are dealing with a very broad topic. Submit your site to high pr free directories, find relevant lens, hubs, or web 2.0 sites to get links from. Then seed your site with your own articles like pava suggested. Once the you get a little bit of traffic coming it will grow fast because of the user generated content bringing in more search engine traffic.

    Then sit back and setup some advertising =]
