Are Opt-In Form Popups Allowed on ADSENSE sites?

I'm trying to use an Aweber pop up (lightbox).

What it does is... after 10 seconds, an opt-in box pops up, and darkens the background. You've probably all seen them on other websites before.

Is this in violation with adsense?

I searched for the answer on Google. There are many people who asked this question, but no one gave a clear answer it seems.

A ton of misinformation on popups. You can't put ads in
popups, and, you can't have a popup that interferes
    with site navigation.

Technically, any popup/layover like that, requires one
to click on something before moving on, so, it
interferes with navigation. However, it could be
considered part of actually navigating the site.
Many large sites, especially newspaper sites, get
away with it. But they are not normal adsense
    publishers.

Those ads typically blackout the whole page, which
again would be a violation. You can't cover up adsense
ads in no way, shape, or form. (This would include those
popup or mouseover menus if they cover any ads)

My advice always is to just not do it. Do you
want to make money with adsense, or harvest
emails? There are better ways of harvesting emails.
You could put it in a normal popup that does not
affect navigation of the site. But then, people
    hate popups.

besides, the more people come up with ways of slapping
ads or forms in your face, the more people will be prone
to block ads. Not a good thing for anybody.

I gotta clarify that what you are doing could be considered
just normal navigation of the site. In fact, I had one placed
by a paying customer that was created via his google
ad network account to be placed directly on my site.
I figured I was in the clear, as the code had google written
all over it. Thing is, my adsense dropped like a rock and
the chap was paying commission. I dropped the ad on
those pages like a bad habit. I actually had a long
    conversation with him about
adsense TOS and those things. He showed me many examples
of sites that run both. You just can't get around the "blocking"
of ads though that is a clear violation of TOS.

That site I mentioned above was probably hit because of
that ad as well. Almost as soon as I took it down, the site
    went back to normal.

I still use his ad, but have a clever way around the TOS. I
created a pages specifically for the ad, no adsense.
    Done and done.

Thank you very much for clarifying that for me, Paul.
I was actually hoping that you'd answer

I have taken it down. Better safe than sorry, especially when it isn't doing me anything spectacular.
