One of my SEO partner is experimenting with site-wide links post penguin update.

Well, here is the site: My City Best. You'll find a lot of websites in site-wide links under Blogroll in left side.

Let's take one of those site for example i.e., 50Lappen Tema 50lappen | Tema which is in anchor text "50 Lappen". Do you see that?

Now, If I search the links pointing to 50Lappen Tema 50lappen | Tema in google, it's not showing the site mycitybest.wordpress.com. I tried all the permutations, nothing works. It's same for all the sites in site-wide links, no link is counted by google.

Any suggestions/opinions?

Thanks

Could be set up that way by the site owner to be do not crawl/do not index. That would help them cut down on spam to the site. Or Google may just recognize that the links aren't valuable.

      • No, it was NOT setup as no-index or no follow. It's absolutely indexable and do follow.
      • Even if the link is of poor value, still Google does index them and that's what we call as bad links. So, I don't think value of links has anything to do with getting indexed/counted.

      Thanks for response, Mr.Lim.

      Well,
1.It's been more than couple of links since the links are posted.
2.No, we use that site only as an experimentation. And I don't think posting frequency has anything to do with backlinks though it affect the crawlers. But has google has crawled this site multiple times after creating a links in blogroll.

I could be the case Google simply ignores the blogroll links on the site.

I checked the site and there are tens of them, making the link to your site almost useless.

Hi Trevor, yes, the links are useless and only for experimentation. But my question is why it's not indexed/counted. Well, what google does for site-wide links is they count site-wide links as just '1' though they may have 100s or 1000s. But it doesn't give enough reason for google to not index/count the link.

In Google? They aren't as accurate as much other softwares, try use ahrefs.com or webmaster tools.
It actually works for my other site-wide links.

And one more thing about this topic which I've forgot to mention. In one of my client's GWT, it shows other site-wide links but not particularly this one.

By the way where did you check when was the site last crawled and that it's ms only?
