HI
What differences are there between search engine focussed keywords and ones through social media, do people use different keyphrases on social media to what youd find on search engine keyword tools , if so how/where do you find such information please?

    Hi Mike,

I guess keywords are more or less the same, still I think the difference is how we use keywords on the site promotion level and on the social media level.

Your site copy is almost endless, and you can incorporate keywords quite naturally - without stuffing.

With social media, word count is minimum. You can hardly use more than one keyword in your twitter bio for it to sound natural. Social media wording is about engagement, not keyword stuffing.

    That's what makes the difference.

So lets say I wanted to show clients how much their keywords were used on social media ie the potential they were missing out on conversing with, which tools would be best there to get the stats across the main SM players?

None of the social media sites give out that information. Closest thing you would find is trending topics on Twitter.

Cheers Mike, how about via the respective 'ads' pages , would possibly the recommended CPC at least give an idea of the amount of action of said keywords ,just thinking off top of head

The CPC for Facebook ads, for example, is completely irrelevant to any search activity. The CPC is more effected by the demographic you select to target. Keywords to do not play a role in it.

Not sure what kind of clients you are talking about, but if it is local businesses you are working with, to be honest, people don't perform searches in social media all that much. When they do, they are searching for specific brands or businesses. They don't really search for "bars", "accountants", or "real estate agents", etc.

yeh its not so much for search stats as the SEO would be, more for lets say me approaching wedding planners as my clients, and say 1500 people on social media mentioning 'celebrating their engagements' , so they can see the potential they are missing out on by not having any strategy or way to see these posts or interact with these prospects other than being in the right place at the right time.
I mean theres the Hootsuite etc software that can so the search functions , dont beleive it can do them for other than Twitter though

Best thing you can do in that situation is find 1 or 2 of their competitors that have a really active Facebook page and show them how they are using it.

Also, I would just discuss general social media activities and stats... Facebook is approaching 1 billion users, over half their users log on every single day, they see what their friends like and do building social trust, etc.
