Amazon Affiliate some Questions!

I have a lot of websites which are monetized with adsense making each some bucks a month. So I was thinking since everyone seems to hype the conversions of amazon in the worrum to give it a try. Put amazon and a bestlist on my website.
It made me 70$ in July and in AdSense max. 20$. Additionally I put adsense on the site just on the 7. of july.
I want to work more with amazon now! Got some keyword ideas and read a lot here but still have a few questions.

Since I'm not from the US or UK it seems to me that there are a TON of niches untapped here in mid europe.

When I'm checking keywords i.E on Market Samurai a la "Samsung CLP-365 Review" there seems to be no competition, but sometimes amazon itself in the serps.
Do you only Rank your products or even the page itself if it has a EMD i.E "Best Printers 2012" or something?

    In my short experience I have created a website for example,

    www.bestprinters. com (not my website)

    I would then write some information articles about the features of printers (inks, capabilities, dpi, etc).

    I would then write product review pages. These would have the title of the item for review, ie, "Samsung CLP-365 Review".

    The information articles are a chance to rank for keywords related to printers, and the article reviews should rank for the model being reviewed.
    If there is little competition, this should be very straightforward with a minimal amount of backlinking
