Heard of this case:

Is a Facebook Scandal Brewing? | Scoop

I'm everyday on WF and I didn't notice anybody commented on this case...

Monday at 11:07 am a start up tech company called Limited Run posted a highly controversial post on Facebook. The post is getting some attention too. Limited Run’s FB Page has a total of 2011 likes. Currently, the post has 3,246 likes and 326 shares. It’s safe to say it’s gone viral.
So what’s the fuss all about?
They announced their plans to delete their Facebook page. By itself that’s not viral worthy. The reason why is what’s so staggering. The reason why is creating buzz around the web that Facebook themselves will not ignore. The reason why might actually have a devastating impact on Facebook’s advertising platform.
Limited Run has made a bold and highly controversial claim. Here it is in their own words:
The 80% of clicks we were paying for were from bots.

If I recall correctly there was a thread about this issue on the forum already. At one point I was tempted to start advertising on Facebook but after reading about this I am glad I didn't! At some point I also felt the same for adwords, as I used a coupon given to me by a friend, and I noticed how quick the coupon ran dry without any conversions (took only 2 hours to consume the 50 euro's). The bounce rate was exceptionally high for the laser targeted keywords I was using for that campaign. Since that happened, I don't trust PPC anymore, I feel it's quite easy to mess around with it. This is just my exerience as I am sure there are loads of people that have had big success with PPC.

I missed that thread on WF. Not a problem with this much threads here.

At least it was coupon, not real money.

I was thinking about starting campaign on FB, but now when I think of it... I'll wait some time for that.

Yes I would stay clear of them. Did you also read about how Zuckerberg tumbled out of the top 10 of richest entrepreneurs, I think just after this became public knowledge? I am wondering if their is a direct correlation between this happening and him losing his top 10 listing..

I have doubt that facebook wants to ruin their business by themselves. I would think the likes from bots would come from competitors who want to make their rivals' money go down the drain.

Lively this has nothing to do with facebook likes, but with facebook creating a network of bots capable of "faking"clicks to make sure the client consumes their advertising budget with the Facebooks advertising program in the fastest way possible. If it's true they have commited fraude on a large scale and will most likely be accountable by law. This is huge man!
