Static websites ranking?

I have an offline client whom I have been working for a few years.

His site was hit by Panda and Penguin, so I'm been working hard to rank it back.

Thanks to my private blog network, I managed to rank back to the 2nd page and will be pushing it more.

However, one thing about this website is that it is a static HTML site. It has not been updated for sometime. You see, this is a moving company in Singapore and there's only so much to talk about in the moving industry.

In short, starting a blog just to add content is not the way to go.

My question is, have anyone rank websites that are static HTML even after Penguin/Panda? If so, it means that I will need to focus more on backlinking.

I have handled a static website before. What I usually do is that I still focus on content optimization even if it wasn't my website's content.

You can still focus on contents through web 2.0 properties. How long you should write a content should depend on what kind of website you're handling - the main concern, topic, etc.

That way, you can get good quality backlinks from different sources. And will eventually make your website ranked.

All of my sites are hand coded using html, php, etc.
      (php just adds html)

The real question should be, how can people expect
to rank with some WP crapola, needing a bunch of
plug ins and themes, when hand coding simple,
basic html SHOULD be the way the go?

Ranking a site has nothing to do with static or dynamic.

Besides, how is a WP blog that never gets updated any
different than a plain html site that never gets updated?

And WP uses html. The "dynamic" part creates it on the
fly so your browser knows what the heck to do.

I think the problem is not static pages so much, as it is low quality blog article networks. Use some better quality SEO, and you will see better results
