add more content, backlinks regularly, active in forum. That's enough I think.

It requires time to get good amount of traffic in blog. It is actually a long term process. Stay active in your blog. You can give ad to different forums and also can take help of social networking sites. These are good ways to get instant and natural traffic.

There are many free methods to build traffic. Since you are on web design niche, create an interesting social network, eg. fb, twitter, squidoo, pinterest, stumble upon and etc

Adding geo-targeted content would be a good start for you. Ranking for local keywords is a lot more simple and will work towards higher rankings for master keywords.

I have very few friens on FB and Twitter and not many outsourcing services really provide genuine FB or Twitter comments on my website/articles. Start building links.create backlinks from high PR sites and other SB sites. Increase the visibility of your site.
It will help you to get the rank in SERP and good SERP will give you good amount of visitors.
