Hi, I was wondering is there anything wrong with having a number on your URL?

For instance, "weightloss101.com"

BUT this isn't for an EMD. It's just to have a domain / brand name.

I mean, I noticed there's 9gag.com which does really well and they're really popular.

Nope, as long as it makes sense and is easy to remember.

I have a few numbered domains and can tell you they work fine. Like bnetwork states, as long as it makes sense there is no problem.

I like this idea. Would it make sense if, for example, the domain name I'm looking for is taken, I can just add a number to it and register that instead.

The advantage is you'll have a domain name with the keyword you want in it. Does anyone see any disadvantages?

    Hi Paul,

The concept of having just alphabets or alphanumeric or just numeric values in the domain name is long gone. Now its all about the brand name. Even if you have a domain with numbers in it, if your brands reach is better than your competitors or atleast some of them, you would surely placed in 1st page SERP.

So, when you get a domain name available, just book it and start promoting the brand and make sure your start from your surrounding, I mean, your friends circle and then online. This would be helpful.

There in nothing wrong with using numbers in a domain name but be careful as to HOW you use them. Some numbers look exactly a letter (the numeral "1" and the small letter "l" or the numeral "0" and the capital "O"). Others are sound-alikes that may be a problem if you verbally tell someone your URL ("Good for You" or "Good4U"?).
