BuySellAds split testing strategy

So I have a question about split testing banner ads. I'm hoping someone who already does this can give me some tips...

Right now I'm promoting 2 CB products in the same niche by direct linking with BuySellAds. I bought 10k impressions for $80 on a site in an appropriate niche.

I've split tested two banners for two different offers. Now, after 2k+ impressions, one of the banners is a clear winner. It has a CTR of 1.6% vs 0.3% for the other one.

I'm beginning to suspect the type or quality of traffic on the property I am advertising on isn't the greatest.

My question is: If I want to test another property, is it worthwhile to continue using both banners or can I safely assume that their relative performance will be roughly the same from one property to the next?

    For a BSA site I don't think 2000 impressions is enough and I wouldn't trust results to translate across properties.

    Those sites get tons of traffic but really low CTRs. With such a small sample size I don't think you can conclude much.

    You are right about the quality of traffic, it tends to be pretty low on a lot of those sites. Lots of eye candy posts. Readers are largely ad blind or just killing time, not looking to buy.

    But lots of people advertise with them, so the money must be there, right?

    You would think so. I just impulsively spent another $75 to run ads on another website. I'm split testing banner ads for CB products in the weight loss niche. I'm also split testing between two sites now, one in the weight loss niche, the other in the wedding niche.

    My ad spend is $155 now. I feel like I'm counting on luck in order to make my money back. Really, I'm buying myself a learning experience.
