If i have a website selling services, do you think i should have an SSL certificate? I only briefly looked into this but i wanted something like this website

Code:
http://www.majon.com/
Not hyperlinked as i am not affiliated in anyway

If you scroll down its on the left hand side they have 4 different certificates, is that just 1 licence from godaddy or is that 4 different i couldn't work it out

Also if you know cheap places to get them i would appreciate it

Are you processing the transactions on your site or are you using a third party like PayPal? If you actually process the transaction on your site, you MUST get a cert.

Well the payment would be through paypal, but i think it looks trusted with the green bar and a cert.

I want like a CPanel for the customers to Login and see details of their orders which would be nice to be protected as i was going to use Wordpress as the platform which i know is not very secure without it (correct me if i am wrong)

    See here: https://secure.trust-guard.com/certi.../www.majon.com

This site: http://www.dbwebhosting.co.uk/ in your signature is down. See here: http://www.dbwebhosting.co.uk Is Down -> Check if your website is up or down?

Also, I gather by your member name, that you're a web host. If you are in fact, you should already know this stuff.

As a web host, you shouldn't be looking for the "cheap places" places to get things.

Any time private information is being passed, you should have an SSL certificate as it encrypts the connection.

Again, not to be rude, but you should know this stuff if you're a web host.

    Hello DbWebHosting,

I think you are mixing things up. SSL certificate is useful when :

    1. You want to prove to your clients the authenticity of your server/service;
    2. You want your authentication information (user and password) and other information transfers be secured over Internet.

Now a secure seal is a totally different thing. A secure seal proofs that the site is authentic and was security scanned/audited by a respected security audit company/tool, which means it doesn't have any vulnerabilities or spyware.

so, in your case you might be needing both. A certificate to offer a secure authentication service and a seal proving that your site is safe... good luck,
