How do I do on-page SEO for homepages?

I currently have a review blog website, where all of my posts are on the main homepage. I was thinking of making my homepage more official looking and linking them to another page. But being how I've read that having 500-1000 words, keyword density, H1 H2 H3, etc are needed for on-page seo. How do I optimize a professional home page that has like a slider on top and is more graphic oriented with minimal text?

    First of all you have to identify your blog niche and target audience or visitors. Spend some time to do keyword research and find some keywords which are being searched by users and have less competition. Then use these keywords to write niche related articles and use those keywords in page title, meta description, meta keywords and h1,h2,h3 tags as well as in article body and submit the sitemap to google using webmaster tools and let the google index your web pages and include your pages in search.

    Its difficult to tell you the exact time when your website or blog will be on first page of google. Anyhow you start link building process and try to get do-follow backlinks from your niche related websites. do hardwork and stay blessed

    Ah yes, I already have keyword research down. And already have a good concept of on-page seo in terms of normal blog posts. Just wondering how you do it on a homepage, for example amazon, you see mostly graphics of their latest products. How do you seo optimize for a webpage mostly filled with these thype of graphics?
