Hosting server location

Hi,
Does it matter the location of the hosting server?
For example, if I have a wensite in english, but the hosting server is in Spain, and I want target users from UK, USA, Canada; is it better in search engines to use a server from these countries?
Also, the search engines check the server location, or it matters in Page Rank?

To be honest, it doesn't really matter. You need to be worried about latency though. If the majority of your viewers are in the US, stick with a US provider.

    Actually, it does matter!

You could look at it in at least 2 different ways:

    1. Host the site in Europe or USA, and set the location in Google Webmaster Tools.
    2. Host the site where the majority of traffic comes from, so if most visitors are from the UK (and you want to rank in g^^gle. co.uk), then use a UK host.

No, it doesn't. The TLD & region settings are used to determine the location. If you don't configure your stuff right, then the IP's will be used to determine the geographic location. The physical location has nothing to do with it, and neither does "Class C" IP's or any of that other ridiculous junk. Configure your services correctly, and you have nothing to worry about.

This is why there are geo settings inside your analytics programs.

Nope, you've missed the point completely (again).

If someone does not want to use Google Webmaster Tools or Analytics, then using a host in a target country is definitely a ranking factor.

Who mentioned C Class IP's in any case?

The region a site targets is determined by the Domain TLD or for Google the Region setting in the webmaster tools. If you have a .com and you don't have your region set then search engines may use the GEO Location of your IP to determine your region but the best bet is to use a regional TLD and to set the setting in Google Webmaster Tools. This is what I said earlier.

I'm just saying in general. A lot of what is said in SEO Forums are myth, speculation, assumptions, and bad guesses.

There are many SEO's who do not want G%%gle poking around their sites, so they do not want to use Webmaster Tools. It's not mandatory to use it!

I have ranked many sites using a host based in the target country, without using Webmaster Tools.

It's completely true. The same goes for any industry. You have a couple people who read a few forums, then think they are instantly an expert.

Like I said, it's compared at the TLD. Host your websites closest to your visitors.
