Facebook have the worst support team ever

I have encountered a really unhappy experience with Facebook and Facebook Ads. So I would like to share it here others can avoid getting into such a situation with Facebook:

I ventured into a baking niche and wish to promote my gluten-free baking guide. So I setup a facebook page, with an opt-in form which requires name and email to get a free gluten-free baking report. If the person doesn't want the report, he/she can still 'like' my page and stay tuned for tips and updates etc.

To increase my page likes and opt-ins, I created Facebook Ads promoting my page with a content like this 'Love Gluten-Free Baking? Like Us & Join Our List To Get A Free Baking Report!'. Ad image is just a cupcake image. There's a privacy policy and indication that emails would be send to them occasionally.

So the ads were running fine for 3 days, all approved and I was glad to see people liking my page. A week ago, Facebook disapproved all my ads suddenly and began to auto-disapprove all my Ads within 5 seconds of creating/editing them.

Disapproval Emails states that:
The content of your ad violates our Ad Guidelines. Please ensure that the product being advertised relates to the product or service on the destination page, and that the ad does not make unrealistic claims (such as "Lose 15 pounds in 1 week!").
Additionally, if your ad leads to a destination URL that prompts users to the input personal data (such as a phone number, email address, etc.), please ensure that there is a privacy policy clearly available that guarantees the protection of such data.

I really do not see what's so unrealistic about my ad and I have all the privacy requirements on my landing page (opt-in form)

I was really frustrated and tried to contact Facebook via those contact forms they have on their support page. As expected, replies only came in at least 48-72 hours later with cut-and-paste support replies which did not solve my issue at all.

After a few more desperate support requests, I received another email from one of the Ad Team staff, stating that:

'
Thanks for writing in to us. I took a look at your account and noticed that the content advertised by this ad is prohibited. We reserve the right to determine what advertising we accept, and we may choose to not accept ads containing or relating to certain products or services. We do not allow ads for this product and will not allow the creation of any further Facebook Ads for this product. We appreciate your cooperation with this policy.

This decision is final. Please consider this the end of our correspondence regarding this matter.

Thanks for your understanding'

I find this really ridiculous as
Gluten-Free Baking is NOT:

- Adult Products
- Alcohol
- Dating
- Drugs and Tobacco
- Gambling and Lotteries
- Pharmaceuticals and Supplements
- Software
- Subscription Services (The guide I give away is FREE OF CHARGE)
- Unacceptable Business Model (How is the page an unacceptable business model?)
- Weapons and Explosives

The above are part of Facebook Ad Guidelines.

I have already spent money when the Ads were once approved and working. All of a sudden, the Ads are getting disapproved and thus I wasted all the money I invested in the Ads initially.

I find this really ridiculous and hope that I was the one who misread something and thus ended up in such a situation. Facebook did not state that they label 'baking' as prohibited. And I really don't see why it should.

It's really tiring to come up with a product, get everything up and running, try to market it but only to end up like this.

Anyone else experienced something like this before? Feeling really upset..

I really can't explain the reason why your Ads are being disapproved, I would have suggest that you create another FB ad or give them some time because it will be difficult to response to your complain considering the fact that they have over 500 million users and who knows the number of Ads running on Facebook who might the experiencing similar problems like yours. They don't have the number of Staffs that will response to every emails/complains on time.

Maybe some Warriors with more experience with Facebook Ad will share more lights here

      Hi rosetrees,

That's the disapproval email that Facebook send me but I don't see how it applies to my Ad because there's no unrealistic claims and I have all the privacy policy stated on my landing page.

That's why I find it so puzzling.

Perhaps try setting up an external website and sending traffic to that from your FB ads. That might start to give you some clues about what they don't like. Such as whether it's the ad itself or the fact that it is linked to your FB page that is the problem.

In other news Facebook's stock (FB) hit a new low today.

Probably because they keep turning down revenue and have yet to manage a stable advertising platform....

What was your business model? Pretty sure Google doesn't like squeeze pages (they view it as "collecting contact info" for spam purposes), and Facebook seems to be copying Google's ad policies.

Fortunately I have never had to deal with support, but I find it funny that that when you run an ad, it gets approved around 11:00 PM because their approval team is in India. So unless you want to stay up late, you often have to let your ad do its thing and check on it the next morning. I can only imagine how bad their support is. But then again, could ever be as bad as Google's?

I am suffering the same problem - it's now taken about 15 different tweaks to try and find what it is about my landing page that FB doesn't like. And I'm still trying. Hearing your experience I am not even going to try to talk to a human being there....

FB ads aren't a complete bust - it depends on what your end goal is when you run an ad. They are very good for adding fans, and then it's up to you how you engage people on your fan page once they have 'liked" you. Overall, FB fans are not big product buyers though (in my experience), the key is getting interested parties to join your sign-up lists.

To the OP, who knows, maybe the "gluten-free" claim got red-flagged as some sort of drug claim - ridiculous, I know. One way around it is to create your ad without the specific gluten-free callout but make sure when calibrating your targets you aim it at people with an interest in gluten-free products. You'll have to experiment and be creative to see what gets accepted and what doesn't.

Yeah also...sorry to be frank, but you probably did not have a budget that really deserved that much customer support

There thousands of people who spend 1k+ a day and then there are hundreds (if not thousands) of companys that spend 10k+100K (just guestimating) a day.

Your probably not going to get much support with your 20 dollar a day banking niche ad
