Hi,

For sometime I have been procrastinating to take action with IM, but have been able to go past that and start doing something. I created a blog in the weight loss niche, the keywords don't have much competition, they get on average like 1000 searches a month and competing pages are something like 49,000 when I search the keywords in quotes, and when not in quotes, I get something like 499,000 competing pages, CPC roughly ranges between $1.30 to $1.90.

Now in two weeks my newly blog sits on the 34th position in google US and 46th position in google UK and Canada. What effective ways should I use to make it climb to the first page and possibly first position?

Do you add content regularly, or do you participate in niche related discussions, forum threads? What in sort of "link building" have you done until now?

High PR contextual backlinks and guestpost. Both are free and the best backlinks available.

    Contextual Backlinks:

Write blog posts, comments, articles and whatever other content you can (on other platforms, not yours) that is related and relevant to your niche. In those posts/comments/articles should be a link back to the page you want to rank. Google bots will read the content around your link to figure out what you're all about.

It's a bit more complicated than that, but essentially, that's what you need to do.

    Good luck.

Forget SENuke X. That is going to burn a hole in your pocket fast.

There are plenty of free traffic sources (and backlinks) out there. Some of these include:

    YouTube
    Social Bookmarks
    Blog Commenting...

I personally use YouTube and Social Bookmarks quite effectively as my niches have low competition.

Updating unique contents will be able to help you. Building some good backlinks from niche related blogs and forums. Do not try to do all the backlinks in the same days. Take you time. be natural.
    [quote=Vivers]Twitter & Facebook social media, etc... [quote/]
All these are never going to help in search engine ranking. These can be a source of visitors.

Once again, thank you everyone for your reply, seems to add some more backlinks is the way, to go, I have bought Angela's packets, hope they will help! and I think the best way is to build as many as you can, the issue of building a lot of backlinks in a short time, shouldn't be a problem, I think the problem is building a lot of them backlinks and pinging search engines, what I do is I just build backlinks as many as I can and I don't ping, I just let search engines find my backlinks themselves, I have done this with my blog and I have seen quick rankings like that.

Now my blog is at position 16th for main keyword. I am going to build more links until it gets to page one.

    Once again Thank you all!!!

I have been building backlinks through my blog, and now it has jumped from position number 34 to position 14th and 15th, and it only keeps alternating on that position for over a week or a week and a half, will .edu/.gov backlinks increase its ranking?, On page one the highest PR for a site is PR 3, others are below that.
