What exactly does it mean to ping your video etc

Hi!

This is probably a really stupid question but I'm gonna go ahead and ask anyway.

I know what pinging is in the context of checking network connections but lately I've come across it a lot in WSO's and similar where the author has gone through explaining how to set something up (eg a video) and then tells you to ping it.

Can someone please explain what that means in this context and how you do it ......and why would you need to do it.

Hope that's not a HUGE ask. I have no idea if it's a simple question or really complex as I'm completely clueless as to what it all means.

    feral Don't be that way. You should post anytime you feel like posting. Your not a loser in any way. Sorry buddy if I made you feel that way. Take more action then lurking and reading. Formulate your gameplan if you do not have one today and take massive action EVERYDAY. Watch these videos when you have some spare time.

    Oh no need to apologize - you didn't do anything wrong!! Quite the opposite - and thanks for responding so quickly to my OP. I just got carried away really - I read about that pinging thing in yet another ebook and was about to go research what it meant in this context when I suddenly thought "hey that would be a great question to get started with a post on WF. Didn't really stop and think about search functions. I guess I just wanted to get over the "first post jitters".

    Well that didn't end well. LOL

    So anyway. Maybe another day I'll try again. thanks again for the link.

    Feral, just be careful! In regard to web sites, inconsistent link building/mass pinging can be caught as suspicious.

    Hi Feral - I'll cut to the chase here - I ping all my articles, new blogs etc for the very reason that it gets them seen more and increases my traffic.

    To do this I use:

    Pingomatic.com
    Pingler.com

    They are all free and easy to use - no drama :-) Contrary to what you may think your question is actually a very good one so keep posting them and keep a positive mindset!
